The Festa della Lumaca della Val Nervia is the festival dedicated to one of the most traditional dishes of the hinterland of Camporosso, a municipality in the Val Nervia in the province of Imperia. Snails, present in Ligurian peasant cuisine for centuries, are cooked according to local recipes and offered in a large popular festival that attracts enthusiasts from all over the Riviera dei Fiori.
Recognized as an Authentic Ligurian Event, the festival is organized by the Pro Loco 'Gli amici del mulino' at the Palatenda Bigauda, an equipped and covered area that guarantees the event even in case of bad weather. In addition to snails, the stands offer other traditional dishes, in a convivial atmosphere enlivened by music.
The Val Nervia is a territory rich in history and flavours, from medieval villages like Dolceacqua to typical local products from the hinterland. The Festa della Lumaca celebrates this gastronomic identity, enhancing a humble but meaningful dish, linked to the rural culture of the valley and its autumn traditions.
A few kilometres from the sea and the French border, Camporosso combines the coastal dimension with that of the Val Nervia hinterland. The Festa della Lumaca enriches the municipality's autumn calendar with a festival that tells the most authentic flavours of this corner of western Liguria.
For 2026, the Festa della Lumaca della Val Nervia reaches its 10th edition, scheduled for Sunday, September 27, at the Palatenda Bigauda in Camporosso, starting at 12:00 PM. The Pro Loco 'Gli amici del mulino' serves snails from Val Nervia prepared according to traditional recipes, along with other local dishes. The festival, recognized as an Authentic Ligurian Event, offers a day of gastronomy and celebration in the covered area of the Palatenda.
Camporosso is served by the train station on the Genoa–Ventimiglia line (Camporosso Mare). By car from the Ventimiglia or Bordighera motorway exit (A10). The festival is held at the Palatenda Bigauda.
Food stands open from 12:00 PM. Free entry; food and drink payable.
