The festival celebrating Lecco's lakeside and mountain soul
The Festa del Lago e della Montagna is one of the most cherished events of the Lecco summer. Lecco stands at the point where the eastern branch of Lake Como meets the mountains — the Resegone, the Grigna, the San Martino — and this festival was created precisely to celebrate the city's deep connection with its two natural elements.
The heart of the day is the procession of the 'lucie', the traditional boats of Lake Como with their characteristic arch of ribs, preserved and passed down by the Gruppo Manzoniano Lucie. The boats parade on the water for the blessing of the lake, a rite that recalls the ancient relationship between the lakeside communities and the waters that have shaped their history and economy.
The festival continues with the regatta of the 'lucie', which pits the historic boats against each other, and with the performance of flag-throwers and musicians, who bring the colours and sounds of tradition to the lakefront. It is a moment of strong appeal, capable of uniting residents and visitors in the unique setting of Lecco's lakeside.
Closing the day is the grand fireworks display, which illuminates the summer night from the lake and reflects on the water, offering one of the most spectacular sights of the year. The Festa del Lago e della Montagna, promoted by Lecchese Turismo Manifestazioni in the heart of the Province of Lecco, remains one of the most beloved events of the Larian summer.
The Festa del Lago e della Montagna 2026 will be held in Lecco in late June, following the custom of placing it on the last Sunday of the month. The event, promoted by Lecchese Turismo Manifestazioni with the support of the Municipality of Lecco, takes place on the city's lakefront.
The traditional program includes the procession of the 'lucie' on the lake, the blessing of the lake, the regatta of historic boats, the performance of flag-throwers and musicians, and the grand evening fireworks display. The exact date for the 2026 edition will be officially announced by the organizers.
