In Val Liona, a municipality in the Berici Hills in the province of Vicenza, the Festa dei Gargati De.Co. promotes a specialty of local peasant tradition: gargati, a fresh pasta with over-century-old roots, made with a special stone-ground flour from wheat grown exclusively in Val Liona.

Gargati have obtained the Municipal Designation (De.Co.), a recognition that protects their link to the territory. In recent years, the festival has introduced the novelty of ancient grain flour, rediscovering varieties once cultivated by grandparents and making this dish even more precious and tied to the agricultural memory of the valley.

Spiazzo and Local Restaurants

The heart of the event is the food stand set up in Spiazzo, in Grancona, where gargati are served paired with local wines. The dish can also be enjoyed at participating restaurants throughout Val Liona, amidst the Berici hills. Numerous side events are offered by Pro Val Liona.
