The new oil from the Montecchio hills
The Festa dell'Olio Novello takes place in Sant'Urbano, a hilly hamlet of Montecchio Maggiore in the province of Vicenza, and celebrates the olive-growing vocation of this territory. The Montecchio hills are characterized by sandy soils which, combined with the favorable climate, create an ideal environment for olive cultivation.
A walk through the olive groves
The festival opens with a walk through the olive groves on the hills, which allows visitors to discover the agricultural landscape of the hamlet. Upon returning, in the heart of Sant'Urbano, the tasting of the new oil from local producers takes place, accompanied by appetizers made with typical products, including scopeton, thanks to the collaboration with the Amici dello Scopeton.
A festival that supports producers
The Festa dell'Olio was born in 2007 on the initiative of Guerrino Cozza and the volunteers of the Amici della Città di Montecchio association, in collaboration with the Associazione Arca, with the aim of promoting this reality and supporting small local producers. The event, with free admission, takes place under the patronage of the Municipality of Montecchio Maggiore.

The 2026 edition of the Festa dell'Olio Novello is scheduled for November in Sant'Urbano, with the usual format of a walk through the olive groves followed by a tasting of the new oil. The exact date will be announced by the Amici della Città di Montecchio closer to the event.

Sant'Urbano is a hilly hamlet of Montecchio Maggiore, on the A4 motorway (Montecchio Maggiore exit). The festival takes place in the center of the hamlet and among the olive groves on the hills.
