The festival celebrating the Cavallino asparagus in Piazza Santa Maria Elisabetta
The Festa dea Sparesea — in Venetian dialect "asparagus festival" — is one of the most deeply rooted festivals in Cavallino-Treporti, on the coast in the province of Venice. The absolute star is the green asparagus of Cavallino, a typical product of the sandy coastal territory, celebrated in dishes, tastings, and specialties served at the food stalls.
The event takes place in Piazza Santa Maria Elisabetta, the heart of Cavallino, with three days of tradition and fun. Alongside the food stall, there is live music, a market, exhibitions, games for children, an immersive planetarium, and shows for the whole family.
Among the most anticipated moments is the return of the greasy pole, a symbol of the popular festival and team spirit, up to fifteen meters high. The Sparesea Run, a non-competitive fun run open to everyone, covers about twelve kilometers along the cantilevered cycle path overlooking the lagoon. A regatta and numerous outdoor activities complete the program.
The Festa dea Sparesea combines gastronomy, sport, and popular culture, telling the agricultural and lagoon identity of Cavallino-Treporti and attracting residents and tourists from the Venetian coast at the beginning of spring.
The 54th edition of the Festa dea Sparesea takes place in Cavallino-Treporti from April 30th to May 2nd, 2026, in Piazza Santa Maria Elisabetta. For three days, the square celebrates Cavallino asparagus, the star of typical dishes, tastings, and specialties at the food stall.
The program blends tradition and fun: live music, a market, children's games, a regatta, the Sparesea Run, an immersive planetarium, exhibitions, and shows for the whole family. Among the most anticipated moments is the return of the greasy pole, fifteen meters high, a symbol of the popular festival and team spirit.
Detailed schedules for each day will be published on the Municipality's and Cavallino's tourism park channels.
Cavallino-Treporti is reachable by car from the SP42 coastal road, by vaporetto or motorboat from Venice and Punta Sabbioni, and by bus from Jesolo and Venice. Piazza Santa Maria Elisabetta is the center of the festival.
Access to the festival area is free; food and drinks at the food stall are subject to payment. The Sparesea Run requires registration.
The festival is held between the end of April and May 1st, the asparagus harvesting season.
