The traditional mid-August country festival in Samone, Valsugana
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Ferragosto Samonato is the most beloved and characteristic event in Samone, a small village of just over five hundred residents nestled at an altitude of 700 meters in the eastern Valsugana, in the Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Every year, around August 15th, the village gathers at Parco Laresoti for two days of festivities that blend gastronomy, sports, music, and local tradition in the heart of summer at the foot of the Lagorai mountain range.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Samone, which has been dedicated to the village's hospitality and entertainment for years. Ferragosto Samonato began as a traditional country fair and retains its authentic spirit to this day: it is a chance for residents, returning emigrants, and visitors to mingle around tables, enjoy music, and take part in outdoor activities. The setting of Parco Laresoti, with its lawns and play area, is perfectly suited for a festival designed for all ages.
The heart of the festival is the food court, which serves local traditional dishes alongside meat and fish specialties. Highlights include grilled veal with polenta and chanterelle mushrooms, seasonal mushrooms, and the typical flavors of Trentino. The evenings are enlivened by orchestras and ballroom dance bands, turning the park into an open-air dance floor for young and old alike, in the best tradition of summer mountain festivals.
The program dedicates plenty of space to children and sports. Recurring events include a mountain bike race for children and teenagers (ages 5-13) held in the park, entertainment for kids, and the luciolada, a non-competitive night run open to everyone where participants receive a complimentary cap: a torchlight-style race that illuminates the village streets at night, creating one of the most evocative moments of the festival.
Samone belongs to the Valsugana and Tesino Community and preserves the intimate atmosphere of small Trentino villages, with its patron saint, Saint Joseph, celebrated in the spring. Ferragosto Samonato is the town's main summer event and a great reason to discover this corner of Valsugana, with its mountain hikes, fresh air, and the hospitality of a community that deeply values its traditions.
The 2026 edition of the Ferragosto Samonato in Samone (Valsugana, Trentino) does not yet have an official program published. Based on previous editions, the festival traditionally takes place around August 15th at Parco Laresoti with a food court, dance evenings, activities for children, and the night-time luciolada. For final dates and program details, it is best to refer to updates from the Pro Loco of Samone and APT Valsugana.
