The craft beer and gastronomy festival of the Piceno area in the village of Monteprandone
Fermento Marchigiano is the summer event that celebrates craft beer and local products in the heart of Monteprandone, a charming hilltop village in the province of Ascoli Piceno, in the Marche region, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. For a few evenings in August, Via Giacomo Leopardi transforms into the so-called "Via del Gusto": a lively path where enthusiasts can taste quality beers and traditional Piceno dishes while strolling through the ancient walls of the historic center.
The festival was created to promote Marche craft breweries, joined year after year by guest breweries from neighboring regions like Umbria and Abruzzo. Alongside traditional beers, the event has innovated by also offering non-alcoholic beers, cocktails, and fermented products like kombucha, to cater to all tastes. The selection includes some of the most appreciated names in the regional brewing scene.
The food and wine section is managed by various local establishments offering traditional Piceno menus, with land and sea dishes and specialties that change nightly. It's the ideal opportunity to discover the authentic flavors of Monteprandone and the Ascoli hinterland, in a convivial and family-friendly atmosphere.
Fermento Marchigiano is not just about beer and food: the program includes live music and DJ sets, art exhibitions, street art, shows, and workshops. An area is dedicated to children with animation and entertainment, while the evenings often feature guided tours of the historic village. The event is organized by the Associazione Le Due Porte, chaired by Stefano Barbizzi, with the support of the Municipality of Monteprandone and local entities like Banca del Piceno.
Admission is free, and stands generally open in the evening. To facilitate access, the organization traditionally provides shuttle services connecting the village with San Benedetto del Tronto, Centobuchi, and the convent of San Giacomo della Marca, reducing parking issues in the historic center.
