A farming tradition in Val di Sole
The Fera dei Sèt is one of the most deeply rooted livestock events in Val di Sole, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). It takes place in Fucine, a village in the municipality of Ossana, at the beginning of September, when summer ends, mountain pastures are vacated, and daily farming life resumes in the valley. The name «Fera dei Sèt» refers to September 7th, the traditional date for the historic livestock market.
The cattle show and the champion
The heart of the event is the cattle show: dozens of heifers from local farms—not only from Ossana but also from Commezzadura, Menas di Mezzana, and Vermiglio—are displayed along the village streets. The animals, groomed and brushed for the occasion, are evaluated by a federal jury that selects the best heifer between 10 and 36 months old, crowning the «queen» of the show.
An entire village in celebration
Originally a commercial event for trading livestock, since the late 1970s, the Fera dei Sèt has evolved into a showcase for morphological evaluation and territorial promotion. Today, the animal exhibition is accompanied by a farmers' market along the streets, displays of barnyard animals and local products, cheese tastings, activities dedicated to local beekeeping and mycology, family entertainment, and cultural events.
At the heart of the Cheese FestiVal di Sole
The Fera dei Sèt is the first of three cattle shows in the valley, followed by events in Cogolo di Peio and Malè. It is part of the Cheese FestiVal di Sole calendar, a major festival promoted by the Val di Sole Tourist Board that celebrates Casolét cheese, alpine dairy culture, mountain huts, and farming traditions throughout September, offering guided tours of stables and dairies, tastings, and agricultural fairs. During the two-day event, visitors can also explore the Castle of Ossana, one of Italy's most beautiful villages.

Fera dei Sèt — edition 2026
The Fera dei Sèt 2026 will be held in Fucine di Ossana on September 5 and 6, 2026, confirming its role as the first appointment with the Val di Sole cattle shows within the Cheese FestiVal di Sole. As per tradition, the event will gather heifers from local farms along the village streets for the historic cattle show, accompanied by the farmers' market and events related to local farming culture.
