About Felicittà
A night to rediscover our common heritage
Felicittà is the city-wide festival through which Rome Capital opens its public heritage sites to its citizens. Promoted by the Department of Heritage and Housing Policies, the event takes place over a single evening, from 6 PM until midnight, transforming the city into a continuous trail of extraordinary openings, guided tours, concerts, performances, workshops, sports activities, and social initiatives. Participation is always free and open to all.
The underlying idea is simple yet powerful: public heritage is not just a list of properties, but a collection of living spaces entrusted to associations, foundations, cooperatives, and third-sector organizations that keep them running every day. For one night, those doors swing open, and the people who live in these spaces share their stories directly with the Romans. Within the Municipality of Rome and the Lazio Region, few initiatives manage to seamlessly link a historic theater, a suburban youth center, and a public beach on the coast with such natural ease.
Thirty-one locations, one single evening
The geography of Felicittà is intentionally broad, spanning very diverse districts. On the cultural and historical front, visitors can explore the Forma Urbis, Teatro Torlonia, Casa Pertini Voltolina, the National Institute of Roman Studies, the Mattatoio Foundation - La Pelanda, the Roman Aquarium, the Casa del Jazz, Forte Antenne, the Cristiano Censi Library with Teatro Azione, the Roman Philharmonic Academy, and the House of Resistance.
Sports play an equally central role, featuring the Fulvio Bernardini Sports Center, the Gym of Legality, and The Spot Skate Park in Ostia. Younger visitors take center stage at the Scholé, Batti il tuo Tempo Evolution, and Open Lab Giovani centers, while families can find tailored activities at Explora - The Children's Museum of Rome, TeatroCittà, the Officine del Mare, and the spaces of the APS Giovani Anziani Cornelia, hosted in the former Campari Factory.
The city's supportive side
A section of the event is dedicated to how the city cares for itself. The Community of Sant'Egidio's House of Friendship, the San Francesco Social Cooperative, the So.Spe. - Solidarity and Hope, and the national headquarters of Telefono Rosa open their doors to the public. This part of the program perfectly illustrates the spirit of the initiative: showing that a public asset is defined by the use made of it.
On the coast, the evening continues until midnight at the equipped public beaches Rebirth, l'Alba Beach, Angels by Bahia, Marabù, and Amanusa, along with the Village—a property confiscated from organized crime and now returned to the community under the management of a third-sector consortium. The Ostia coastline, already a focal point of the previous edition, remains one of the most carefully curated fronts of the event.
Getting around
Since the locations are spread across the entire municipal area, the organizers provide free electric shuttles accompanied by expert guides: one line dedicated to the city and one to the coast, both departing at 6 PM. Seats are limited, and booking is mandatory via the Rome Capital single number 06 0608. For those not using the shuttles, most venues are reachable by public transport, while Ostia is easily accessible via the Rome-Lido railway.
Why it's worth attending
Felicittà is not a thematic festival but a journey: in a single evening, you can move from an archaeological visit to a jazz concert, from a children's workshop to a match at a neighborhood sports center, and finish with a sunset by the sea. It is also one of the few events that places the monumental center and the suburbs on the same level, offering a less postcard-perfect and more concrete image of Rome. For a foreign visitor, it is a rare opportunity to see the Capital from the perspective of those who live there.

Felicittà 2026, the fourth edition
On July 2, 2026, Rome Capital repeated its city-wide festival of public heritage for the fourth time. From 6 PM to midnight, 31 locations opened their doors for free: cultural venues, sports centers, youth spaces, social entities, and equipped public beaches. The official opening was held at 6 PM at the Forma Urbis, where Mayor Roberto Gualtieri presented the new Atlas of Rome Capital, an expansion of the Heritage Atlas.
The evening alternated between very different registers: music at the Casa del Jazz and the Roman Philharmonic Academy, extraordinary openings of the Teatro Torlonia and the Roman Aquarium, children's workshops at Explora and the Officine del Mare, and sports at the Gym of Legality and The Spot Skate Park in Ostia. An important space was dedicated to the supportive side of the city, with the House of Friendship of the Community of Sant'Egidio, the San Francesco Social Cooperative, the So.Spe., and the Telefono Rosa.

Admission
All activities are free and open to the public. Some guided tours and workshops may require booking due to capacity limits.
How to get there
The locations are distributed throughout Rome and along the coast. In the city, we recommend using the metro, trams, and buses; for Ostia, the simplest solution is the Rome-Lido railway (Metromare) from Porta San Paolo. Those arriving by train should get off at Roma Termini; those arriving by plane should use Fiumicino or Ciampino airports.
