The celebrations for the co-patron of Termoli, between faith and tradition in the heart of the Old Town
The Feast of Saint Timothy is one of the most important religious events in Termoli, in the province of Campobasso. Saint Timothy, disciple and collaborator of Saint Paul, is venerated as the co-patron of the city and the diocese of Termoli-Larino: his relics are kept in the Termoli Cathedral, which makes this celebration particularly dear to the community.
The festivities are spread over four days of intense liturgical life, with the preparatory triduum, solemn masses, Eucharistic adoration, vespers in the Cathedral, and moments of cultural deepening dedicated to the figure of the saint. The climax is the solemnity with the pontifical mass and the evening procession through the streets of the historic center, during which the relic of the arm of Saint Timothy is carried in procession.
The feast combines the spiritual dimension with identity: for the people of Termoli, it is an opportunity to rediscover their Christian roots and the bond with the saint who, according to tradition, protects the city. The celebrations take place in the evocative setting of the Cathedral of Santa Maria della Purificazione and the Old Town, perched on the promontory overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
The 2026 celebrations for the co-patron of Termoli opened on May 8th with the triduum, Eucharistic adoration, and the Supplication to the Madonna of Pompeii, continuing until the solemnity of May 11th with the pontifical mass and the evening procession through the streets of the historic center. Among the most attended moments were the conference dedicated to the figure of Saint Timothy and the blessing of children in the Cathedral.
Termoli is served by the train station on the Adriatic line and by the A14 motorway (Termoli-San Severo exit). The celebrations take place in the Cathedral, in the heart of the Old Town, which is within walking distance of the center.
