On September 8th, the day of the Nativity of Mary, Castelverrino celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of Libera in the small rural church dedicated to the Virgin. Castelverrino, in the province of Isernia, is the least populous municipality in Molise, with just over a hundred inhabitants: for this very reason, its religious festivals have an intimate and strongly communal character.
A Marian feast of Alto Molise
The celebration includes a Mass and a procession to the rural church, in a highly evocative landscape setting, made up of hills cultivated with fodder, olive trees, and vines typical of Alto Molise. The feast attracts residents and emigrants who return to their home village for the occasion.
