Caorso's feast dedicated to the Po River, its people, and its land
The Feast for the Po is one of the most beloved events in Caorso, a municipality in the Piacenza lowlands overlooking the great river, in the province of Piacenza (Emilia-Romagna). Born in the early eighties and reaching its 43rd edition in 2026, the event is a tribute to the Po, its people, and its land: a way to rediscover the ancient bond between the town and the river, between the activities that once animated its banks and the flavors of the riverside cuisine.
The heart of the festival is the food stand, which opens on the evenings of the event offering traditional Piacenza and river dishes. The absolute star is the freshly prepared fried Po River fish, accompanied by local culinary classics such as tortelli, pisarei e fasò, Piacenza cured meats, torta fritta, and snacks to accompany aperitifs and cocktails. On Sundays, the festival lunch is added, a convivial moment that brings the community together at the table.
Every evening, the festival area comes alive with live music and dancing: the large dance hall hosts ballroom dancing and group dances with orchestras, while the opening night focuses on a younger atmosphere with a DJ set. Next to the stage, there is also a tank for fishing with a hand net, an activity that entertains young and old and recalls the town's relationship with the river.
Among the most cherished events is the fishing competition dedicated to the memory of Riccardo Ziliani, with the award ceremony taking place during the festival. It is a moment that combines sport, remembrance, and solidarity, in line with an event that remains deeply linked to river culture.
With free admission and voluntary contributions, the Feast for the Po attracts residents of Caorso and neighboring towns in the Piacenza lowlands every year, between Monticelli d'Ongina and the Cremona area. Organized by the Pro Loco of Caorso with the patronage of the Municipality, it is one of the occasions when the town comes together around its roots, the flavors of its cuisine, and the great Po River.
The 2026 edition of the Feast for the Po takes place in Caorso from Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21, in the festival area of the Via Torta car park. Three days of music, gastronomy, and traditions on the great river, organized by the Pro Loco of Caorso with free admission.
The program alternates dance evenings, the food stand with flavors of the Piacenza lowlands, and the usual fishing event, in a festival that unites community, sport, and river culture.
