The Curti bean festival in Piazza Mercato
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Fasulata Festival is one of the most cherished gastronomic events in Curti, a small town in the province of Caserta, Campania. Every year, towards the end of August, the central Piazza Mercato transforms into a large, convivial space where the absolute star is fasulata, the traditional bean soup of the local peasant cuisine.
Fasulata is a dish that is both humble and hearty: beans cooked slowly and seasoned according to recipes passed down from family to family, often served with homemade bread and other typical products from the Caserta area. It is an identity-defining dish, deeply rooted in the rural culture of the Terra di Lavoro, which the festival brings back to the center of the table every year as a symbol of memory and community.
The event typically spans two evenings, with food stalls set up in Piazza Mercato where you can taste fasulata and other local specialties. The format follows the classic tradition of Campanian village festivals:
More than just a food festival, the Fasulata Festival is a moment of gathering for the town: an occasion where the community of Curti meets in the main square to share flavors, conversation, and the carefree spirit of the final summer nights. The event is part of the rich calendar of festivals and popular celebrations that enliven the province of Caserta during the summer months, helping to promote the food and wine traditions of Campania.
Historically, the festival is held in the last days of August: the 2025 edition took place on August 30th and 31st, while the 2022 edition was held on August 27th and 28th. The dates for the 2026 edition are announced by the organizers in the preceding weeks, usually through local social media channels.
The Fasulata Festival is expected to return in 2026 to Piazza Mercato in Curti, following the tradition of previous editions dedicated to the traditional bean soup of Caserta cuisine. The exact dates and the program for the evenings will be communicated by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event, usually through local social media channels.
The festival is held in Piazza Mercato, in the center of Curti (CE), Campania.
Curti is located just a few kilometers from Caserta. By car, it is easily accessible from the Caserta exit of the A1/A30 motorway and the provincial roads of the Terra di Lavoro. By train, the reference station is Santa Maria Capua Vetere-Curti, a short distance from the center.
Admission to the festival area is free. Bean-based specialties and traditional dishes can be purchased directly at the food stalls.
As this is an open-air evening event, it is advisable to arrive in the evening; on festival days, the town center may be partially closed to traffic.
