Castle, Fortress, and Church of San Giorgio open with free contribution
The FAI Spring Days are the main public event dedicated to Italy's cultural and landscape heritage. Organized by the FAI - Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano (Italian National Trust) since 1993, every year hundreds of art, history, and nature sites, often little-known or usually inaccessible, are opened to the public. In San Giorgio Piacentino, a town in Emilia-Romagna in the heart of the Piacenza plain, the initiative offers an itinerary through the monuments that tell the story of the village.
The route revolves around three heritage sites in the historic center, accompanied by guided tours from volunteers and Apprentice Dragons:
The visit to the monuments is enriched by collateral initiatives curated together with local associations. Among the most anticipated events are the medieval dance performance on Sunday afternoon, reserved for those visiting the Castle, the photographic exhibition dedicated to the village's memory ("San Giorgio yesterday and today") set up along the route, and the gastronomic snack offered by the Pro Loco in front of the church, a convivial occasion to taste local products.
The FAI Spring Days invite you to rediscover the identity of a territory through its symbolic buildings. In San Giorgio Piacentino, in the province of Piacenza, the event combines the protection of historical assets with the valorization of community traditions, in a weekend that involves families, history enthusiasts, and the curious. Admission is by free contribution: every donation supports FAI's activities for the conservation of Italy's artistic and environmental heritage.
The 34th edition of the FAI Spring Days was held on March 21 and 22, 2026.
