A festival on well-being in the heart of Ancona

Extra Salute is the festival of well-being from every point of view that the Municipality of Ancona, capital of the Marche Region, dedicates to health understood in the broadest sense: not just the absence of illness, but a balance between body, mind, and social environment. Born as a legacy of the Extra G7 Salute experience in 2024, the event is now a regular fixture of the Ancona autumn, capable of bringing the culture of prevention out of clinics and directly to the people, in the squares and symbolic places of the city.

The Mole Vanvitelliana and the city squares

The heart of the event is the Mole Vanvitelliana, the imposing 18th-century lazaretto overlooking the port, complemented by various city spaces: from the central squares to the Teatro delle Muse, and cultural venues like museums and libraries. This diffusion across the territory is a precise choice: to bring health topics closer to everyone, breaking down barriers and transforming moments of scientific dissemination into opportunities for meeting for families, young people, and the elderly.

The One Health approach

The festival adopts the One Health methodology, in line with the indications of the World Health Organization: an interdisciplinary approach that links the health of people to that of the environment and the community. The topics covered span all phases of life, from the first thousand days to adolescence, from active longevity to gender medicine, including the importance of movement, correct nutrition, prevention, and so-called cultural welfare.

Conferences, workshops, and screenings

The program combines conferences and lectures by experts with many practical events: workshops, free screenings, vaccination open days, demonstrations, and recreational activities. Past editions have included themed days dedicated to women, teenagers, and grandparents, indicating a festival that aims to speak to every generation. All events are free admission.

A network of local institutions

Extra Salute is promoted by the Municipality of Ancona with the coordination of the PIXEL agency and is the result of the collaboration of a vast network of health and academic realities in the Marche region: AST Ancona, the Ospedali Riuniti di Torrette, INRCA, the Università Politecnica delle Marche, professional associations, Third Sector associations, and cultural institutions. A synergy that makes the festival one of the most important events dedicated to public health in the province of Ancona.
