About Estate Farnesana

Every summer, the village of Farnese in the upper Tuscia region of Viterbo comes alive with the Estate Farnesana: a widespread festival series promoted by the Municipality and the Pro Loco. Throughout July and August, the town hosts concerts, open-air cinema, food festivals, children's shows, and traditional celebrations. From the Tuforica festival dedicated to craft beer to the festivals celebrating fettuccine and acquacotta, the calendar weaves together flavor, music, and conviviality through the historic center, in an authentic corner of Lazio just a stone's throw from the Selva del Lamone.

Summer in Farnese: Music, Flavors, and Tradition

The Estate Farnesana is the festival series that brings Farnese to life every year. This small village in the upper Tuscia region, in the province of Viterbo, sits in the heart of Lazio. It is not just a single event, but a comprehensive program that fills the village evenings from July to August with concerts, open-air cinema, performances, food festivals, and traditional celebrations. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Farnese in collaboration with the Pro Loco and numerous local associations, with the goal of enlivening the historic center and welcoming residents and visitors in a festive, shared atmosphere.

A diverse calendar for all ages

The Estate Farnesana program spans the warmest months, alternating between musical, cultural, and gastronomic moments. The village streets and squares become a natural stage for open-air evenings designed for families, children, and food lovers. Recurring highlights include:

  • Tuforica, a festival dedicated to craft beer, live music, and food stalls that turns the village streets into a hub of meeting and joy;
  • Gastronomic festivals celebrating local traditional dishes, such as egg fettuccine and acquacotta, a rustic soup that is a symbol of Tuscia cuisine;
  • The Hunter's Festival, a convivial event linked to the area's rural roots;
  • Celebrations for the Feast of the Assumption (Ferragosto), featuring a raffle, food festivals, and open-air cinema;
  • Open-air cinema, children's shows, creative workshops, and exhibitions throughout the season.

An authentic village on the edge of Lazio

Farnese stands on a tuff spur overlooking the Selva del Lamone, a fascinating nature reserve between Lazio and the border with Tuscany. Historically linked to the famous Farnese family, the village preserves a compact medieval center that is perfect to explore on summer evenings, when the squares fill with people and music. Participating in the Estate Farnesana means experiencing the genuine hospitality of a town in the Viterbo province, savoring typical products, and breathing in the atmosphere of a community coming together to celebrate.
