About Eostre

Eostre is the first Celtic festival in Vogogna, in the Val d'Ossola, established in 2026 to rediscover the Celtic and Lepontine roots of the Alps. A spring weekend dedicated to symbols, nature, and spirituality, featuring conferences, experiential workshops, musical performances, themed tastings, and family-friendly activities. The events bring the village's most evocative sites to life: the Castle, the Palazzo Pretorio, the Val Grande National Park Geolab, and the gardens of Villa Biraghi.

Eostre, the Celtic awakening of Vogogna

In the spring of 2026, the medieval village of Vogogna, in the heart of the Val d'Ossola in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province, hosts the first edition of Eostre - Celtic Festival. Promoted by the Municipality of Vogogna, the event is named after the Celtic and Germanic deity of spring and the equinox, a symbol of rebirth often associated with the hare. It is an event dedicated to rediscovering Celtic traditions and the Lepontii, the ancient inhabitants of the Alps who once populated these valleys.

A journey through tradition, nature, and spirituality

The program weaves together conferences, experiential workshops, musical moments, and themed tastings, with a special focus on families. The goal is to offer an immersive cultural experience that blends education and entertainment, where the history and symbols of the Celtic world become a gateway to discovering the Ossola territory.

Four iconic village landmarks

The festival unfolds across some of the most representative buildings in Vogogna, one of Italy's most beautiful villages:

  • The Visconti Castle, with its conference hall and gardens brought to life by falconry and historical re-enactments;
  • The Palazzo Pretorio, home to creative workshops, concerts, and group dances;
  • The Val Grande National Park Geolab, where geology meets ancient traditions;
  • The gardens of Villa Biraghi, featuring children's workshops and face painting.

Atmosphere and surroundings

Along the streets of the historic center, you will find artisanal exhibitors and a refreshment area near the church. In the Castle gardens, the falconers of Kazakhstan Dreaming and the historical group Teuta Briva perform, while Celtic-themed workshops guide adults and children through the discovery of ancient myths and crafts. It is a unique opportunity to experience Vogogna and the Val d'Ossola from a fresh perspective, amidst historical re-enactments and Alpine culture.

Eostre — edition 2026

The first edition of Eostre - Celtic Festival took place in Vogogna on Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd, 2026. Two days of conferences, workshops, live music, and themed tastings dedicated to Celtic and Lepontine culture, spread across the Castle, Palazzo Pretorio, Geolab, and the gardens of Villa Biraghi.

The first edition of Eostre - Celtic Festival brought the historic center of Vogogna to life on March 21 and 22, 2026, to celebrate the spring equinox. A weekend that combined education, spirituality, music, and family activities, with a concert by The Rambling Clovers as the highlight of the first evening.

The event involved four iconic landmarks of the Ossola village and offered creative workshops, Celtic-themed tastings, group dances, and an Easter egg hunt for children, in addition to falconry displays and historical re-enactments in the Castle gardens.
