The first Celtic festival in the medieval village of Vogogna
In the spring of 2026, the medieval village of Vogogna, in the heart of the Val d'Ossola in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province, hosts the first edition of Eostre - Celtic Festival. Promoted by the Municipality of Vogogna, the event is named after the Celtic and Germanic deity of spring and the equinox, a symbol of rebirth often associated with the hare. It is an event dedicated to rediscovering Celtic traditions and the Lepontii, the ancient inhabitants of the Alps who once populated these valleys.
The program weaves together conferences, experiential workshops, musical moments, and themed tastings, with a special focus on families. The goal is to offer an immersive cultural experience that blends education and entertainment, where the history and symbols of the Celtic world become a gateway to discovering the Ossola territory.
The festival unfolds across some of the most representative buildings in Vogogna, one of Italy's most beautiful villages:
Along the streets of the historic center, you will find artisanal exhibitors and a refreshment area near the church. In the Castle gardens, the falconers of Kazakhstan Dreaming and the historical group Teuta Briva perform, while Celtic-themed workshops guide adults and children through the discovery of ancient myths and crafts. It is a unique opportunity to experience Vogogna and the Val d'Ossola from a fresh perspective, amidst historical re-enactments and Alpine culture.
The first edition of Eostre - Celtic Festival brought the historic center of Vogogna to life on March 21 and 22, 2026, to celebrate the spring equinox. A weekend that combined education, spirituality, music, and family activities, with a concert by The Rambling Clovers as the highlight of the first evening.
The event involved four iconic landmarks of the Ossola village and offered creative workshops, Celtic-themed tastings, group dances, and an Easter egg hunt for children, in addition to falconry displays and historical re-enactments in the Castle gardens.
Vogogna is located in the Val d'Ossola, along the main road and railway line connecting Domodossola to Milan. By train, the Vogogna-Premosello station is on the Domodossola-Milan line. By car, it can be reached via the A26 motorway (exit towards Ossola), continuing in the direction of Domodossola.
Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd, in the village's historic center.
Some activities (such as the "Gold of the Lepontii" seminar and the Geolab workshops) have limited capacity and require booking. We recommend booking in advance. Vogogna offers refreshment points along the festival route; there are also plenty of agritourisms and accommodations in the surrounding Val d'Ossola area.
