The itinerant music festival experienced from the sea of the Aeolian Islands
The Eolie Music Fest is one of the most original musical events on the Italian scene: an itinerant festival held between the Aeolian Islands and the Tyrrhenian coast of Sicily, with the heart of the events in Santa Marina di Salina, in the Metropolitan City of Messina. Its formula is unique: concerts are held on floating stages, and the audience reaches them by boat, listening to music while swaying on the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea with the Aeolian archipelago as a natural backdrop.
The festival is conceived and directed by Samuel, frontman and founder of Subsonica, who oversees the artistic direction, transforming each edition into a sonic journey through singer-songwriter music, indie pop, and electronica. Promoted by The Floating Fest project, the event combines big names from the Italian scene with the scenic beauty of Salina, the second-largest island in the archipelago, dominated by the twin peaks of Monte Fossa delle Felci and Monte dei Porri.
What makes the Eolie Music Fest unforgettable is the way music is experienced. Spectators watch the live shows from the sea: those who own a boat can anchor at the buoy field near the stage, while those who do not can purchase a package with a tourist boat provided by the organization. Boarding takes place half an hour before the start of the concerts from the ports of Lipari, Marina Corta di Lipari, and Santa Marina di Salina. At nightfall, the party continues with DJ sets while sailing between the islands.
Between one stop and the next, the festival is also an opportunity to discover the identity of the Aeolian Islands: the seaside villages, the Malvasia wine of Salina, capers and seafood cuisine, hidden coves, and sunsets that paint Stromboli pink on the horizon. The Eolie Music Fest is an invitation to experience the Sicilian summer in a slow and surprising way, where the concert becomes a voyage and every note blends with the sound of the waves.
From July 17th to 19th, 2026, the Eolie Music Fest returns between Capo d'Orlando and the Aeolian archipelago, with the heart of the event in Santa Marina di Salina. The artistic direction is entrusted to Samuel of Subsonica, who is also the founder of the festival.
Salina can be reached by sea via hydrofoils and ferries (Liberty Lines, Siremar) from the ports of Milazzo, Messina, Palermo, and the other Aeolian Islands. The nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa, followed by Reggio Calabria, from where you can continue by car to Milazzo and then by hydrofoil.
You can watch the live shows with your own boat (by purchasing a Day ticket and anchoring at the buoy field in the afternoon) or without a boat, by purchasing the Tourist Boat package with boarding managed by the organization. Boarding takes place half an hour before the concerts from Lipari, Marina Corta di Lipari, and Santa Marina di Salina.
Tickets are on sale via TicketOne and the festival's official channels. Early purchase is recommended due to limited availability. For schedules, updated prices, and boarding details, visit the website eoliemusicfest.it.
Book accommodation and sea transport well in advance: during the festival days, the Aeolian Islands are very busy. Bring sunscreen, water, and clothing suitable for sailing.
