Music, art, and literature in Piazza Basile, Tuscania, in memory of Daniele Nardi
Entropia - From Disorder to Art is much more than a summer event: it is a collective act of love. The idea for the festival and the Entropia DN cultural association was born in memory of Daniele Nardi, a young man from Tuscania who passed away prematurely, and is inspired by his lifelong passions: music, writing, painting, social commitment, friendship, and sharing. The name itself tells the story of the festival's journey: starting from the most intimate entropic chaos, from the creative disorder that everyone carries within, to reach a form of art that is complete and shared with the community.
Every year, on the third weekend of June, Piazza Basile becomes Tuscania's open-air living room. For three consecutive evenings, the stage hosts free live concerts: rock, folk, pop, tribute bands, and Italian singer-songwriters perform for an audience of families, young people, and visitors from all over the province of Viterbo. Around the stage, food stalls offer local specialties, turning every evening into a true village festival with a contemporary flair.
The heart and identity of the festival is the "Daniele Nardi" Literary Prize, promoted by the Entropia association with the patronage of the Municipality of Tuscania. The award ceremony traditionally takes place on Sunday afternoon in the evocative setting of the former church of Santa Croce, celebrating the passion for writing that drove Daniele. The prize attracts authors and literature enthusiasts, confirming the multidisciplinary nature of the event.
During the festival, art moves out of the square and into the historic center: the former church of Santa Croce and the foyer of the Teatro Veriano Luchetti (Il Rivellino) host exhibitions of painting, artistic ceramics, sculpture, and photography. Great attention is paid to emerging local artists, in full harmony with the festival's spirit: giving everyone the chance to express themselves and transform their own "disorder" into art.
The festival is also an opportunity to discover Tuscania, one of the most fascinating towns in the Viterbo Tuscia region, in northern Lazio. Between the Romanesque basilicas of San Pietro and Santa Maria Maggiore, the Etruscan necropolises, and the medieval walls, the village offers a unique setting: those who arrive for the concerts leave with the memory of one of the most evocative historic centers in the province of Viterbo. The Municipality of Tuscania supports the event, which is now a fixed appointment on the city's summer cultural calendar.
Edition after edition, Entropia has built a loyal following, reaching its tenth anniversary in 2026. The formula remains faithful to its origins: quality live music, accessible art, literature, and conviviality, in a festive atmosphere that officially inaugurates the Tuscania summer.
From June 19 to 21, 2026, Tuscania celebrates a special milestone: the tenth edition of Entropia - From Disorder to Art. Piazza Basile is once again filled with live music, art, and flavors, with a program alternating rock, folk, and Italian music, while the historic center hosts exhibitions between the former church of Santa Croce and the Teatro Veriano Luchetti (Il Rivellino).
The opening night on Friday is entrusted to the energy of rock, Saturday shifts towards acoustic and folk sounds, while Sunday combines literature โ with the "Daniele Nardi" Prize ceremony โ with Italian music and pop rock. Every evening, food stalls in the square offer local specialties.
Tuscania can be reached by car from Viterbo (about 25 km) via the SP Vetrallese or from Tarquinia (about 20 km); from the A12 motorway, take the Tarquinia exit, and from the A1, take the Orte exit and continue towards Viterbo. The nearest train stations are Viterbo and Tarquinia, with Cotral bus connections. Piazza Basile is located in the center of Tuscania.
Concerts in Piazza Basile and the exhibitions are free of charge. Food stalls are open every evening in the square.
The festival takes place on the third weekend of June: book local farmhouses and B&Bs in advance, as they are in high demand during the summer. Do not miss a visit to the Romanesque basilicas and the Etruscan necropolis.
