The international festival for original songs, held in Rome in memory of Eleonora Lavore
The Eleonora Lavore Award is an international music competition held in Rome, in the Lazio region, which has made the original song its sole reason for being. Every year, dozens of emerging singer-songwriters and performers from all over Italy and abroad compete on a stage that has become a benchmark for those taking their first steps with original tracks never before published by a label. The festival features a single category: original songs. Only new tracks, with a maximum duration of four minutes, capable of conveying an authentic idea and voice, are allowed on stage.
The competition is dedicated to the memory of Eleonora Lavore, a Sicilian singer-songwriter and poet who passed away prematurely. The award upholds her human, artistic, and social values. The artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Giuseppe Lavore, Eleonora's brother, who has been carrying forward a cultural project since 2013 designed to provide space for new talent and keep the vision of free, sincere, and shared music alive. This vocation drives the constant focus on younger artists, often facing an audience and a professional jury for the very first time.
The Award is divided into two stages. The national semi-final is held at the Caffè Letterario on Via Ostiense, in the Ostiense district, where selected contestants perform their original tracks live before the committee. The best performers then advance to the final, hosted at the prestigious Teatro Ghione in the Aurelio district, just a short walk from St. Peter's Basilica. Here, the ten finalists take the stage, presented by professional hosts and judged by a dual jury composed of record producers, television professionals, and journalists.
The value of the Eleonora Lavore Award goes beyond mere recognition: the overall winner is offered a recording production and a promotional campaign on major Italian networks, with the goal of concretely supporting the artist's entry into the professional world. Alongside the main prize, special awards are presented, such as the Critics' Award, which highlights the most original interpretations and the quality of the songwriting.
The event connects two faces of the city: on one side, the vibrant and creative Ostiense district, and on the other, the Aurelio district with its historic theatre. For both the public and the participants, the Award is an opportunity to experience Rome in a youthful, musical light, along a journey that unites the memory of a singer-songwriter with the voices of a new generation of authors.
The 2026 edition, the thirteenth of the event, confirmed the two-stage structure. The national semi-final was held on May 23, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at the Caffè Letterario at Via Ostiense 95, Rome. The final took place on July 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM, at the Teatro Ghione, with the ten selected artists competing with an original track.
The event was hosted by Angelo Martini and Pamela Olivieri, while performances were judged by a dual jury: the Critics' Jury, chaired by RAI director Antonio Fugazzotto, and the Technical Jury, composed of producers and industry professionals from the national music scene.
The semi-final is held at the Caffè Letterario at Via Ostiense 95, accessible via Metro B (Piramide or Garbatella stops) and the Roma Ostiense station. The final takes place at Teatro Ghione, at Via delle Fornaci 37, in the Aurelio district, near St. Peter's Basilica (Metro A, Ottaviano stop, then bus).
For the final at Teatro Ghione, it is recommended to check access and booking procedures on the official website of the Award and the theatre.
