The Sant'Oreste Easter Market is the event that marks the arrival of spring and the Easter season for this village just north of Rome. For one full day, the historic center, centered around Piazza Cavalieri Caccia, hosts the market's characteristic stalls, featuring handicrafts, Easter-themed decorations, and local traditions. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Sant'Oreste in collaboration with the Pro Loco, aims to showcase the historic center and offer residents and visitors a chance to gather and enjoy the pre-Easter season.

Stalls, crafts, and local traditions

Throughout the village's streets and squares, exhibitors offer handmade creations, gift ideas, and products tied to Easter traditions. Strolling through the stalls is also a perfect way to discover the historic fabric of Sant'Oreste, with its narrow alleys, small palaces, and views overlooking the Tiber Valley. The market is an invitation to experience the village at a leisurely pace, in a festive atmosphere that anticipates Holy Week.

An afternoon dedicated to children

The heart of the program is designed for families. In the afternoon, the former refectory hall hosts the Creative Easter Workshop, a guided hands-on activity for children aged 5 to 11, where they can create themed crafts under the supervision of expert entertainers. Following this, the Bing Bunny mascot—a beloved cartoon character—arrives in the village squares to meet, hug, and take photos with the little ones. This focus on children makes the market a highly anticipated event for families from the village and neighboring towns.

Sant'Oreste, the village of Soratte

Sant'Oreste, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region, is spectacularly situated on the slopes of Monte Soratte. This solitary mountain dominates the Tiber Valley, was celebrated by Horace, and is now the heart of a nature reserve rich in hermitages and trails. The village is also known for the Soratte Bunker, an impressive military structure carved into the mountain. The Easter Market is a great opportunity to combine a visit to the village with a hike on the mountain or a discovery of local historical heritage.

An event by the Municipality and the Pro Loco

The event is organized by the Municipality of Sant'Oreste together with the Pro Loco Sant'Oreste APS, an organization very active in animating the village throughout the year. The formula is simple and genuine: a day of celebration with free entry, designed for the community and open to anyone wanting to discover one of the most charming villages in the countryside north of Rome during the period leading up to Easter.
