The Duathlon Netium in Bitritto

The Duathlon Netium is a duathlon race included in the regional calendar of FITRI Puglia (Italian Triathlon Federation) and organized by SSD Netium in collaboration with ASD Team Oroverde. The competition takes place in Bitritto, a small town in the Metropolitan City of Bari, along the Strada Provinciale 17, and represents one of the key events in the Apulian duathlon movement at the start of the racing season.

The discipline: run, bike, run

Duathlon is a multisport discipline consisting of three consecutive segments: an initial run, a cycling leg, and a final run. In Bitritto, the race is offered in Sprint and Supersprint formats, which differ in distance and allow participation for both experienced athletes and those trying this type of event for the first time.

Categories and participation

The event is open to a wide audience. Absolute and Age Group categories—Senior, Master, Under 23, and S1—compete alongside numerous youth categories, ranging from Mini Cuccioli and Cuccioli to Ragazzi, Esordienti, Youth, and Junior. A significant space is dedicated to para-athletes, confirming the inclusive vocation of the federation and the organizing club. Registrations are managed via the icron.it platform, and timing is provided by the Tempogara service.

The Levante circuit context

The race is part of the broader Apulian duathlon movement that revolves around the Levante circuit, with events distributed between the Bari hinterland and the Autodromo del Levante area. For SSD Netium, which is also active in organizing aquathlon events in the Bari metropolitan area, the Bitritto race is a key element in the growth of endurance sports in Puglia.

Bitritto and Puglia

Bitritto is located just a few kilometers from the regional capital, in an area known for its Norman-Swabian castle and an agricultural tradition linked to olive trees. The early March scheduling, with mild temperatures and quiet roads in the Bari countryside, offers an ideal setting for an outdoor endurance race, capable of attracting athletes from all over Puglia and neighboring regions.
