Three days of sport, culture, and solidarity against gender-based violence in San Salvo
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Donne in Corsa is much more than just a race: it has become an autumn tradition in San Salvo, a town on the Trabocchi Coast in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. Launched in 2023 by the Atletica Velo Club San Salvo, the event puts sport at the service of a social cause, bringing women, men, families, and athletes of all ages to the streets to say no to gender-based violence.
The program of Donne in Corsa extends beyond the Sunday race, spanning an entire weekend that alternates between play, culture, and competition. The three days are designed to engage all generations:
The hallmark of Donne in Corsa is its charitable nature: the entire proceeds from registrations are donated to the "Frida" Anti-Violence Center, managed by the Dafne ETS association, which supports victims of violence in the Vasto area. The race thus becomes a concrete gesture of support, capable of transforming athletic participation into real help.
The event is made possible by a dense network of associations, schools, and local entities: from the schools of San Salvo and Vasto to the Lions Club, from the Pro Loco to AVIS, and from volunteer groups to sports associations. A web of collaborations that makes Donne in Corsa not just a sporting event, but a true celebration of community and civic commitment in the heart of the Adriatic Abruzzo.
The dates and program for the 2026 edition of Donne in Corsa have not yet been announced. The event, which reached its third edition in 2025, is traditionally held in November in San Salvo, in the province of Chieti. We recommend checking the channels of the Atletica Velo Club San Salvo and the local Abruzzo press for updates on the 2026 edition.
The run and walk start from Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII, in the center of San Salvo (CH). The other days (Kids and conference) take place in various city venues.
By car: take the San Salvo exit on the A14 Adriatic motorway, just a few minutes from the center. By train: San Salvo-Montenero di Bisaccia station on the Adriatic line. The nearest airport is Pescara.
Participation in the race requires a symbolic registration fee, the proceeds of which are entirely donated to the Frida Anti-Violence Center.
