The highest cultural salon in the Dolomites
Established in 1986, DolomitIncontri is the historic cultural festival that brings San Martino di Castrozza and the Primiero Valley to life every summer, located in the municipality of Primiero San Martino di Castrozza, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Often described as "the highest cultural salon in the Dolomites," the event invites writers, journalists, scientists, philosophers, and public figures to the foot of the Pale di San Martino to present their latest books and discuss them with an attentive and passionate audience.
The summer of 2026 marks a significant milestone: the 40th edition, a moment of reflection that opens a new chapter for the festival. The chosen theme is "Change" (Cambiare), an invitation to explore societal transformations and personal evolution. The events, scheduled from July 24th to August 19th, will take place in San Martino di Castrozza and at the Intermunicipal Auditorium of Primiero, featuring a program that alternates between book presentations, film screenings, and theatrical performances.
The program brings together household names and authoritative voices from the Italian cultural landscape. Confirmed guests include Gabriele Corsi, Giuseppe Cruciani, Stefano Nazzi, Paolo Ruffini, and Sigfrido Ranucci, alongside writers and scholars such as Alice Basso, Gino Castaldo, Ilaria Capua, Dario Fabbri, Andrea Colamedici, Maura Gancitano, and Giovanni Grasso. The topics covered range from current affairs to science, investigative journalism to storytelling, and philosophy to mountain life.
More than just a series of presentations, DolomitIncontri is a summer ritual that blends culture with the landscape. The events, typically held in the late afternoon, offer residents and visitors the chance to hear from authors and public figures in one of the most spectacular natural settings in the Alps. The festival is organized by the San Martino di Castrozza, Primiero and Vanoi Tourist Board and has become a defining feature of the cultural identity of the Primiero area.
San Martino di Castrozza, a famous tourist destination at the foot of the Pale, and the nearby Primiero area provide the backdrop for an event that showcases the region not only as a hub for sport and nature but also as a place for thought and debate. The connection to the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites adds a unique dimension to every encounter.
The 40th edition of DolomitIncontri celebrates the festival's first forty years with the theme "Change", from July 24 to August 19, 2026, between San Martino di Castrozza and the Intermunicipal Auditorium of Primiero.
