Dolce & Gabbana's Alta Moda returns to the Pearl of the Ionian
In July 2026, Taormina will once again become a global capital of high fashion. From July 12 to 16, the town in the province of Messina will host the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda event, the most prestigious traveling showcase by the fashion house founded by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. For Taormina, this is a homecoming rich in meaning: it was here in 2012 that the brand launched its Alta Moda project, kicking off a "Grand Tour" that has since visited Capri, Portofino, Naples, Palermo, Venice, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Ortigia, and many other Italian wonders.
The event spans several days dedicated to the three great expressions of Dolce & Gabbana's savoir-faire: women's Alta Moda, men's Alta Sartoria, and Alta Gioielleria. Fashion shows and gala evenings will bring some of the territory's most iconic spots to life, including the Ancient Theatre, with its breathtaking views of the sea and Mount Etna, and the evocative Isola Bella. A gala evening at the Ancient Theatre is scheduled for the heart of the event, between July 14 and 16.
The Taormina gathering is not open to the public; it is aimed at approximately 500 selected international guests, accompanied by institutional representatives and over fifty journalists from the world's leading publications. The organization is managed by Balich Wonder Studio, a production company specializing in large-scale events, in collaboration with the Municipality of Taormina, the Naxos Taormina Archaeological Park, and the Taormina Foundation. Although it is a private event, its media impact serves as an extraordinary promotional showcase for Sicily.
The choice of Taormina is no coincidence: Domenico Dolce is Sicilian, originally from Polizzi Generosa in the province of Palermo, and the island's identity has always been a stylistic hallmark of the maison. Baroque elements, ceramics, citrus fruits, textiles, and folk traditions constantly reappear in the collections, making Sicily much more than just a backdrop. Bringing Alta Moda back to Taormina, where the adventure began, is a heartfelt tribute to the brand's roots and the heritage of the Sicilian Region.
Beyond the prestige, the event generates significant economic activity for the Municipality of Taormina and the entire Messina district, involving thousands of workers across setup, hospitality, catering, and logistics. For five days, the Pearl of the Ionian becomes the stage for Italian artisanal excellence under the eyes of the international jet set.
From July 12 to 16, 2026, Dolce & Gabbana bring Alta Moda back to Taormina, in the province of Messina, fourteen years after the project's debut here in 2012. The program includes fashion shows and gala evenings dedicated to the three great expressions of the maison's couture: Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria, and Alta Gioielleria.
Featured locations include the Ancient Theatre, where a gala evening is scheduled between July 14 and 16, and Isola Bella. The event, reserved for approximately 500 international guests and over fifty journalists, is produced by Balich Wonder Studio in collaboration with the Municipality of Taormina, the Naxos Taormina Archaeological Park, and the Taormina Foundation.
