International short film competition in Ceccano, in the heart of Ciociaria
The Dieciminuti Film Festival (DFF) is one of Italy's longest-running and most renowned festivals dedicated to short films. Founded in 2005 in Ceccano, in the province of Frosinone, southern Lazio, the event is organized by the IndieGesta association and is affiliated with AFIC (Association of Italian Film Festivals). Each edition transforms this Ciociarian town into a meeting point for directors, authors, and enthusiasts from all over the world.
The festival owes its name to its original focus on the short format: stories that must condense emotion and meaning into just a few minutes. Over the years, the event has expanded, receiving over eight hundred submissions annually from dozens of different countries. The competition is divided into five categories:
Alongside the competition screenings, the Dieciminuti Film Festival offers meetings with directors and industry professionals, masterclasses, musical performances, and collaborations with local schools, such as the "A. G. Bragaglia" Art High School. The juries bring together critics, journalists, and educators, while students are actively involved in evaluating the films, fostering the cultural growth of the local community.
The event is rooted in Ceccano, where the IndieGesta association is based in Borgo Garibaldi, but in recent editions, evening screenings have also been held at the Dream Cinema in Frosinone, expanding the event's audience and reach. Today, the festival represents an important part of the cultural landscape of Ciociaria and Lazio, successfully blending an international outlook with a focus on the local territory.
The twenty-first edition of the Dieciminuti Film Festival was held from May 19 to 23, 2026, with evenings at the Dream Cinema in Frosinone and headquarters in Ceccano. The chosen theme, "Reclaiming Time," ran through a selection of 838 short films from Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania, divided into the Official Selection, Extralarge, Animation, DOC10, and Visti da Vicino sections.
The official jury was chaired by journalist and film critic Vanessa Cremaschi, while the Animation section was led by Valeria Valentini, with the contribution of students from the "A. G. Bragaglia" Art High School. The award for the best film in the Official Selection went to Candy Bar by Australian director Nash Edgerton; other winners included Choice (Extralarge), Intermission (Animation), La Fenรชtre (DOC10), and, for the Visti da Vicino section, La valigia.
Ceccano is located in the province of Frosinone, in southern Lazio. By car, it is accessible via the A1 motorway (Frosinone exit), just a few kilometers from the toll booth. By train, the Ceccano station is on the Rome-Cassino line. Evening screenings are also held at the Dream Cinema in Frosinone.
