The winter festival of the Prized Black Truffle of the Sibillini Mountains in Amandola
In Amandola, a village in the Province of Fermo overlooking the Sibillini Mountains, Diamanti a Tavola is the event that celebrates the Prized Black Truffle (Tuber melanosporum), the winter product par excellence of this corner of the Marche region. Not to be confused with the autumn edition dedicated to white truffle, this "March" version of the festival takes place between late February and early March and focuses on the "black diamond," celebrated at the table, in conferences, and along the streets of the historic center.
The festival is not just about gastronomy; it's a journey that intertwines agronomic knowledge, landscape protection, and tourism promotion. The surrounding truffle grounds become open-air classrooms for practical cultivation demonstrations, while the Casa del Parco and the Municipal Council Hall host conferences with experts, biologists, and administrators on the value of truffles for the economy and experiential tourism of the Sibillini.
The gourmet heart of the event is the Palatuber, the themed restaurant where chef Davide Camaioni offers dishes based on black truffle for lunch and dinner. The village taverns and restaurants participate with dedicated menus, while along the streets, a market of fresh truffles and local products unfolds: cheeses, cured meats, honey, and specialties from the Sibillini Mountains.
Between conferences and tastings, the historic center of Amandola comes alive with concerts, itinerant shows, street artist performances in Piazza Risorgimento, historical walks, and book presentations. An opportunity to discover the Fermo village and the Sibillini Mountains National Park in its most intimate season, away from the summer crowds.
Promoted by the Municipality of Amandola together with ATAM (Association of Truffle Hunters of the Sibillini Mountains), Partners in Service, and with the support of the Marche Region, Diamanti a Tavola is now a well-established event in the Marche gastronomic calendar, part of the "Cittร del Tartufo" (Truffle Cities) network. The project for the Truffle Museum, expected in Amandola, confirms the village's ambition to become a reference point for the culture of prized tubers.
The seventh edition of Diamanti a Tavola, promoted by the Municipality of Amandola with ATAM, Partners in Service, and the Marche Region, confirmed the Fermo village as the winter capital of the Prized Black Truffle. Two intense days of practical sessions, scientific conferences, and taste, with the participation of experts, institutions, and industry operators. The gourmet heart, as always, was the Palatuber with chef Davide Camaioni, winner of the Truffle Award 2024.
Amandola (FM) can be reached by car from the SS4 Salaria or from the A14 (Pedaso exit, then SP via Valdaso) towards the Sibillini Mountains. The nearest train station is Pedaso, on the Adriatic line, from which you can continue by bus or car.
The events take place in the historic center: Piazza Risorgimento, Casa del Parco (Via Indipendenza 73), Sala Consiliare del Comune, the Palatuber, and the surrounding truffle grounds.
Conferences and entertainment are generally free admission; truffle ground excursions require reservation (tel. 351 8737873). Meals at the Palatuber and in the taverns are paid according to the daily menus.
The black truffle festival is held between late February and early March. Not to be confused with the autumn edition dedicated to white truffle, which takes place in early November.
