The Delebio May Fair
In Delebio, a municipality in the lower Valtellina region of the province of Sondrio, fairs have marked the life of the community for over a century and a half. The May Fair, also known as the Santa Domenica Fair, was established in 1864 by decree of the Royal Prefecture of Sondrio and is traditionally held on the Monday following the second Sunday of the month.
It is the second most important event in the Delebio calendar, after the larger October Fair. The town streets fill with stalls offering crafts and typical products, while the rural soul of the fair remains linked to livestock and the agricultural traditions of the valley, a living memory of when these events were the main moments of commercial exchange in the area.
Promoted by the Municipality of Delebio, the fair combines historical and identity value with a day of shopping and socialising, an opportunity to rediscover the flavours and crafts of the lower Valtellina.
May Fair — edition 2026
Following its historic placement – the Monday following the second Sunday in May – in 2026, the Delebio May Fair will be held on Monday, May 11th. The town's streets will host stalls featuring crafts and local products, while the rural tradition remains linked to livestock and the agricultural identity of the lower Valtellina.
The fair confirms its role as the second major event of the year after the October Fair, in a calendar that in Delebio has roots dating back to the 19th century.
