The Vasto festival for independent music and the new generation
The Dal Basso Festival is one of the most iconic musical events of the summer in Vasto, located in the heart of the Chieti province in Abruzzo. Conceived in 2016 by the Youth City Council (Consulta Giovanile) and having grown edition after edition into a staple of the Vasto summer calendar, the festival is organized by the Grido Association with the support of the Youth Policy Department of the Municipality of Vasto.
The heart of the event is independent music: singer-songwriters, indie-pop, electronic, urban, and rap artists take the stage set in the green surroundings of the Villa Comunale. The festival stands out for its commitment to providing a real platform for emerging artists from the Abruzzo region, pairing them with established names from the new Italian scene. Alongside the concerts, the evenings are enriched by DJ sets ranging from dance to urban and underground styles.
Dal Basso is about more than just music. Throughout its editions, the event has hosted performance poetry, sustainable fashion shows, popular photography exhibitions, and food stalls, creating a multidisciplinary event designed by young people for young people. Admission is free, and its participatory approach has made the festival a benchmark for creative expression in the city.
Set in the charming Villa Comunale, overlooking the Gulf of Vasto along the Costa dei Trabocchi, the Dal Basso Festival is one of the most anticipated moments of the Vasto summer season. Every year, it attracts a large and diverse audience, cementing its status as a showcase for emerging music and the cultural vitality of the Abruzzo region.
On August 14, 2026, the Dal Basso Festival returns to the Villa Comunale of Vasto for its tenth edition, a symbolic milestone for an event born from the grassroots that has grown into a staple of the Vasto summer. The evening, with free admission, features live concerts, DJ sets, and the usual participatory atmosphere that defines the festival.
Artists announced for the 2026 edition include CMQ Martina, Karakaz, and Chandie, in line with the formula that blends new voices from the Italian scene with local talent from Abruzzo. The event is organized by the Grido Association with the Youth City Council of the Municipality of Vasto.
