The great jazz of Crossroads stops at the Dragoni Theatre in Meldola
Crossroads - Jazz and More in Emilia-Romagna is one of the longest-running and most appreciated jazz festivals in Italy. Founded in 2000 and organised by Jazz Network ETS in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Emilia-Romagna Region and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, it is a travelling festival that crosses the entire region: each edition touches more than twenty municipalities, from March until the summer, building a packed calendar of concerts ranging from mainstream to experimental, from swing to the most contemporary fusions.
In the Municipality of Meldola, in the province of Forlì-Cesena, Crossroads stops at the Comunale Dragoni Theatre, in Via XXIV Maggio, a small and evocative space that is perfectly suited for listening to chamber jazz. The Meldola stop is a unique event in the local programme, designed to offer the public of the Forlì area a high-level concert without having to travel to the big cities.
The formula of Crossroads is that of a distributed festival: instead of concentrating in a single city, the festival brings its concerts to theatres, halls, and cultural venues scattered across Piacenza, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna, Ferrara, Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena, and Rimini. This model allows Meldola and other small towns to host artists who normally perform in the seasons of major cities, enhancing the territory and bringing new audiences to jazz.
The artistic direction has always focused on quality: the Crossroads programme features a mix of established names from the Italian and international scene, young talents, and special projects, in a balance that has made the festival a reference point for enthusiasts throughout the region.
The Comunale Dragoni Theatre is the venue for the Meldola events of Crossroads. The intimate size of the hall creates a direct relationship between the musicians and the audience, perfect for capturing every nuance of the live sound. Concerts usually start at 9:00 PM and tickets, at popular prices, are available for pre-sale online and at the theatre's evening box office.
On April 7, 2026, the Comunale Dragoni Theatre in Meldola hosts one of the most anticipated events of the XXVII edition of Crossroads - Jazz and More in Emilia-Romagna, the travelling festival organised by Jazz Network ETS which in 2026 runs from March 3 to July 31 in over twenty municipalities in the region.
The protagonist of the evening is the Fabrizio Bosso Spiritual Trio, with the Turin-based trumpeter joined by Alberto Marsico on Hammond organ and Alessandro Minetto on drums. The concert, the only event on the programme in Meldola, confirms Crossroads' commitment to bringing major jazz names to even the smallest towns in the Forlì area.
Lineup:
The «Welcome Back» project is a tribute to Black American Music: spirituals and gospel revisited through the language of swing and with vigorous injections of hard bop. Fabrizio Bosso's warm, singing trumpet dialogues with the groove of the Hammond organ and the drive of the drums, in a concert with a profoundly blues and gospel soul.
