International orchestras in the historic venues of the city of the violin
The Cremona Summer Festival is the summer classical music review that enlivens Cremona, in Lombardy, with a long calendar of concerts held between the end of June and the beginning of autumn. Promoted by the Chamber of Commerce of Cremona-Mantua-Pavia in collaboration with the Cremona International Music Academy and the "Claudio Monteverdi" Institute of Musical Studies, the festival is closely linked to the advanced training activities that bring young musicians from all over the world to the city every summer.
The heart of the event is the international orchestras, often youth and academic ensembles, from different continents. Over the years, ensembles from Europe, Asia, and America have performed, in a journey that values both the great symphonic repertoires and the training of new generations of instrumentalists. The festival is thus a bridge between Cremona's musical tradition and the international concert scene.
The concerts are held at the Ponchielli Theatre and in other historic venues in the city, from the courtyards of palaces to the Auditorium of the Violin Museum. Free admission makes it a valuable opportunity for the public, who can listen to great music in the most beautiful places in the centre, experiencing the Province of Cremona through its extraordinary musical heritage.
For Cremona, the Summer Festival is an important part of the summer cultural offering, capable of complementing popular events with a programme of cultured music accessible to all, in full coherence with the identity of the city of Stradivari.
