The first festival of the year in Contrà Costa, May 1st
The Costa Festival is the first festival of the year in the Valstagna area, part of the municipality of Valbrenta, in the province of Vicenza. It takes place every May 1st in Contrà Costa, one of the mountain hamlets dotting the slopes of the Brenta Canal.
The festival is dedicated to Saint Joseph the Worker, celebrated on May 1st. The morning is marked by religious services and refreshments; in the afternoon, starting from 6:30 PM, the food stand and games open, animating the contrada until the evening.
The Costa Festival is a simple and deeply rooted popular celebration, an expression of the community life of the hamlets in the Brenta Canal. For the inhabitants of Valstagna and Valbrenta, it is the occasion that marks the beginning of the good season and the summer festival calendar.
The Costa Festival 2026 will be held on May 1st in Contrà Costa, above Valstagna (Valbrenta, VI), opening the festival season in the Brenta Canal as every year.
The day follows the traditional schedule: in the morning, religious services and refreshments in honor of Saint Joseph the Worker; from 6:30 PM, the food stand and games open, animating the contrada until the evening.

Contrà Costa is located on the heights above Valstagna, in the municipality of Valbrenta (VI). From Valstagna, along the SS47 Valsugana road in the Brenta Canal, you ascend towards the hamlets. It is accessible by car; caution is advised on mountain roads.
