A theatrical play by Maicol Martinelli at the Teatro Marchionneschi in Guardistallo
Cortocircuito. Uno, nessuno e centomali is a play written and directed by Maicol Martinelli, who also stars in it alongside Gianna Galli. The performance takes place at the Teatro Virgilio Marchionneschi in Guardistallo, a small hillside village in the Province of Pisa, overlooking the Maremma and the Etruscan Coast, in the heart of Tuscany.
The play originated from the Guardistallo theatre workshop and addresses the theme of the contemporary human identity crisis, set within a mental space marked by a blackout. Through a narrative composed of fragments, memories, symbolic objects, and distorted images of reality, the story moves between comedy and critical analysis, adopting the register of tragicomedy.
The title is a play on the contrast between uniqueness and multiplicity, clearly referencing the famous Pirandello novel One, No One and One Hundred Thousand. The writing is inspired by Luigi Pirandello, as well as the thoughts of Zygmunt Bauman and Jean Baudrillard on the difficulty of self-recognition in a world changing at an ever-increasing pace. The comedy is not an end in itself: it is the expressive tool used to confront the spectator with their most authentic dimension. The underlying message is that happiness does not necessarily require harmony, but can also inhabit disorder when viewed from a different perspective.
The setting is one of Tuscany's little theatrical gems: the Teatro Virgilio Marchionneschi, inaugurated on August 11, 1883, with Donizetti's La favorita and currently managed by the Piccola Parigi association. With its intimate capacity of about 180 seats, including the stalls and boxes, it offers an up-close and personal experience, ideal for a play built on the direct relationship between actors and the audience.
Alongside Maicol Martinelli and Gianna Galli, the play features assistant director Donatella Raspi and technical direction, including sound and lighting, by Leonardo Giardi. The initiative is promoted with the support of the Municipality of Guardistallo and produced by local entities committed to the cultural enhancement of the territory.
