The national touring short film festival in the Acqui Terme Monferrato area
The Corte dei Corti Film Festival is a national film event entirely dedicated to short films, held every year in Acqui Terme and the surrounding municipalities of the Monferrato area, in the province of Alessandria, in the heart of Piedmont. Its distinctive feature is its touring nature: screenings and events are not concentrated in a single venue but move between Acqui Terme and the nearby villages, blending small-scale cinema with the land that hosts it.
The festival features a competition of Italian short-form works, divided into fiction shorts, animations, and documentaries. Each edition selects a shortlist of finalists competing for awards assigned by various juries. Awarded categories include Best Short Film, Best Animation, Best Documentary, Best Screenplay, Best Performer, Best Animated Character, and Best Cinematography, in addition to the Youth Jury and Audience awards, and a Directing Mention.
Alongside the technical jury, composed of actors, directors, and producers from the Italian scene, the festival involves an audience jury and a Youth Jury formed by students from local institutes. Recent editions have seen the artistic supervision of industry professionals and the presence of prominent guests and speakers in panels dedicated to cinematic language, animation, and new technologies applied to directing.
In addition to screenings, Corte dei Corti offers meetings, panels, and workshops with authors and professionals, special out-of-competition events, and training moments. The goal is to create a bridge between short cinema and the local audience, while simultaneously promoting the small towns of the Acqui Monferrato area as a widespread stage.
One of the most appreciated features of the festival is the completely free admission to all screenings and scheduled events. Promoted by the DiOgniArte APS Association with the support of public bodies and partners in the Piedmontese audiovisual sector, the Corte dei Corti Film Festival has established itself in just a few years as one of the most vibrant appointments on the cultural scene of Acqui Terme and the province of Alessandria, in Piedmont.
The fifth edition of the Corte dei Corti Film Festival will be held from September 18 to 20, 2026, in Acqui Terme and the municipalities of the Acqui Monferrato area, in the province of Alessandria. As in previous editions, the national touring festival will feature Italian short films, animations, and documentaries in competition, evaluated by technical juries, the Youth Jury, and the public.
The 2026 call for entries, reserved for Italian works with a maximum duration of 15 minutes, sets August 15, 2026, as the deadline for submissions. The full program, including the lineup of finalists, panels, guests, and screening venues, will be published on the official website in the weeks preceding the event. Admission, as per the festival's tradition, will be completely free.
Acqui Terme can be reached by car via the A26 motorway (Ovada exit) or the A21, and by train via the Acqui Terme station on the lines to Alessandria, Asti, Genoa, and Savona. The main venue for events is the former Kaimano Conference Hall, at Via Maggiorino Ferraris 5, in the city center. Some screenings take place in the neighboring municipalities of Monferrato: it is advisable to check the venue from time to time on the official program.
Admission to all screenings and events is completely free.
