About Coreglia Medieval Festival

For one night, the historic center of Coreglia Antelminelli, one of Italy's most beautiful villages in the province of Lucca, returns to the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. The Medieval Festival brings alleys and squares to life with historical groups, musicians, flag-wavers, falconers, games, and taverns throughout the village. An evening of historical re-enactment in the heart of the Media Valle del Serchio, in Tuscany, featuring shows, an artisan market, a roving dinner, and a grand fireworks finale. Free admission and free shuttle service.

The Coreglia Antelminelli Medieval Festival

As evening falls, the village of Coreglia Antelminelli — one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, perched at nearly 600 meters above sea level in the province of Lucca — transforms and steps back in time. The Medieval Festival is one of the most anticipated events of the Coreglia summer: for one night, the stone alleys, small squares, and panoramic viewpoints of the historic center fill with costumes, ancient music, and traditional crafts, offering visitors an authentic plunge into the Middle Ages of the Media Valle del Serchio, in Tuscany.

A village that becomes a stage

Coreglia Antelminelli is a village of medieval origin that still preserves its historic urban layout, stone houses, and the intimate atmosphere typical of the Lucchese mountain villages. This is the natural stage for the festival: not a reconstructed set, but the real streets of the village, brought to life by historical groups in costume who welcome the public within the village walls. Coreglia is also famous for its tradition of plaster figurines, a craft that has taken its artisans around the world and is part of the municipality's cultural identity.

What to expect during the evening

The festival offers a packed program of entertainment spread throughout the historic center. Highlights of the event include:

  • Historical groups, musicians, and flag-wavers parading and performing along the village streets;
  • Falconers with birds of prey flight demonstrations;
  • Medieval games, duels, and historical combat demonstrations;
  • Roving shows with jesters, live music, and street performers;
  • Artisan market with local products and ancient crafts;
  • Taverns and food stalls with local specialties.

The highlight of the evening is the roving dinner that winds through the village streets, an opportunity to taste traditional dishes while strolling from tavern to tavern, ending with a grand fireworks display that illuminates the village late at night.

A local event

The event is organized by the Associazione ProCoreglia APS, which involves volunteers and historical groups every year to bring the festival to life. Admission is free, and to facilitate access to the historic center (which has limited parking space), a convenient free shuttle service is provided. The Medieval Festival is one of the events that kicks off the heart of summer in Coreglia Antelminelli, in a calendar full of events spread throughout the municipality's hamlets.

Coreglia Medieval Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Coreglia Antelminelli Medieval Festival officially kicks off the village's August calendar: the date is set for Saturday, August 1, 2026.
