The summer amateur football tournament and the Agliana district challenge
The Coppa Vannino and Agliana Games is the major summer sporting event in the municipality of Agliana, in the province of Pistoia, Tuscany. Originally founded as an amateur football tournament in memory of "Vannino", the event has grown into a true summer ritual that brings the town to life between late May and July, turning the Stadio Bellucci into a vibrant meeting point for hundreds of people every night.
At the heart of the event is the Coppa Vannino, an amateur football tournament organized by the association of the same name, chaired by Francesco Fabbri. It is a deeply felt competition that attracts numerous teams from the Agliana and Pistoia areas, featuring a group stage followed by a knockout phase that culminates in hard-fought finals packed with spectators.
Alongside the Coppa Vannino, the Agliana Games take place—a multi-disciplinary event featuring the city's various districts. Returning after years of absence thanks to the collaboration between the municipal administration and the Coppa Vannino Association, the District Tournament pits the neighborhoods against each other in several disciplines: in addition to football, padel and 3x3 basketball also contribute to determining the winning district. It is a challenge that weaves together competitive spirit, neighborhood identity, and social connection.
The strength of the event lies in its popular festival atmosphere: the stands of the Stadio Bellucci fill up every evening, matches become a gathering spot for friends and families, and the event is enriched by a food area and spaces designed for audiences of all ages. Admission is free, confirming the event's accessible and community-focused nature.
Organizers Francesco Fabbri and Giacomo Giusti, together with ASD Olmi and the support of the Municipality of Agliana, are driving a project designed to stand the test of time. The stated goal is to offer the citizenry a high-quality summer appointment capable of strengthening participation, identity, and the community spirit of Agliana and its districts.
The 2026 edition of the Coppa Vannino and Agliana Games brings several innovations to Agliana. The inaugural Vannino Supercup opens the season on May 29, followed by the main tournament from June 2 to July 2; the Agliana Games and the District Tournament take place in July.
The main novelty is the switch from 5-a-side to 6-a-side football, with the tournament moved to a new area behind the away stand of the Stadio Bellucci. The 18 registered teams are divided into four groups—two of five and two of four teams; from the group stage, eight teams advance to the Champions bracket and another eight to the Conference, with quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals in a knockout format.
Other new features include: Fantavannino, a fantasy game inspired by fantasy football based on the tournament's players, an upgraded food area, and a new children's play area.
Matches take place at the Stadio Bellucci in Agliana (PT), Tuscany. For the 2026 edition, the Coppa Vannino will be played in a new area set up behind the stadium's away stand.
The event runs from late May to July: the Coppa Vannino occupies June, while the Agliana Games and the District Tournament are held in July. Matches are mainly played in the evening.
Free admission. A food area and spaces dedicated to the public are available on-site. Information, schedules, and regulations are available on the official website coppavannino.it and the event's social media channels.
Agliana is easily accessible by car via the SS66 Pistoiese and the A11 Firenze-Mare motorway (Pistoia or Prato exit). The city is also served by the Agliana railway station on the Florence-Lucca-Viareggio line.
