The experiential house and afro house festival on the island of Ventotene
Concalma Island is an experiential electronic music festival held on the island of Ventotene, the southernmost of the Pontine Islands, in the province of Latina, Lazio. The concept is simple yet radical: bring a weekend of house, afro house, and tech house to a tiny 1.5 km² car-free island, where music, art, food, and nature intertwine for three days. Attendance is intentionally limited to preserve the island's intimate atmosphere and foster a sense of a temporary community.
The heart of the event is Le Parracine, a natural amphitheater carved into volcanic tuff that faces the Tyrrhenian Sea. The stage sits perched above the water, complete with kiosks and a relaxation area with hammocks. This is where the main event takes place: the Island «10 Hours», a non-stop ten-hour musical marathon from afternoon until late at night, featuring DJ sets that soundtrack the sunset and a live artist performing live painting in real-time.
The musical selection explores the warmer shades of electronic music: house, afro house, tech house, indie dance, and deep house, with sets designed to harmonize with the landscape and the island's light. The inaugural edition, held from May 1st to 3rd, 2026, featured six DJs — including Eternal Love, Giuliano Lomonte, Fabrizio Sala, Iole, Andrea D'Angeli, and Cianfo — alongside opening and after-parties in the village's local venues.
Concalma Island is more than just a dancefloor. The program includes outdoor activities that celebrate the island's natural beauty: scenic hikes along Ventotene's trails, sunset yoga sessions, sailing trips with the Lega Navale, and social gatherings at the village's historic restaurants and bakeries, from breakfast to Sunday brunch. It is a way to discover the island at a slow pace between one evening and the next.
The Municipality of Ventotene is one of the smallest in Italy, yet its history is immense: the Roman port carved into the tuff, the imperial-era cisterns, the nearby island of Santo Stefano with its Bourbon prison, and the legacy of the Ventotene Manifesto, a founding text of Europeanism. The island is also at the center of a nature reserve and a protected marine area: a unique context in Lazio that the festival invites guests to respect and experience with awareness.
Launched in 2026, the event debuted over the May 1st weekend, offering a rare model in Italy: a "boutique" electronic festival on a minor island, with packages including accommodation in local village establishments, meals, and activities. A format aimed at making Ventotene, just a few miles from the Pontine coast, a small Mediterranean spring capital of electronic music.
The debut of Concalma Island transformed Ventotene during the May 1st weekend of 2026 into a small sanctuary for electronic music lovers. Friday was dedicated to arrivals on the island, with an opening party at sunset and a dinner with a special menu in the village. On Saturday, after breakfast and outdoor activities, the highlight event took place: the Island «10 Hours» at Le Parracine, from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, featuring six DJs playing house, afro house, tech house, and indie dance, alongside live painting by Gemello performed during the sets. Sunday closed the weekend with a final brunch before the return ferries to Formia. Three participation options were available, from single entry to the main event (€49.90) to the Full Pack with two nights in a hotel, meals, and activities included (€189.90), with partner accommodations in the village of the Municipality of Ventotene, in the province of Latina.
Ventotene can be reached by ferry or hydrofoil from the port of Formia (LT), about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Rome and Naples by car or train (Rome–Naples line via Formia-Gaeta). Multiple daily crossings are scheduled during the festival; ferry tickets are not included in the packages. There are no cars on the island: everything is accessible on foot.
Three options are available: Single Access (entry to the main Island «10 Hours» event, from €49.90), One Night Pack (1 night in a hotel with breakfast, music, and brunch, from €99.90), and Full Pack (2 nights, all meals, and all activities, from €189.90). Bookings are available online and via WhatsApp at +39 351 2174675.
The festival partners with local establishments on the island (hotels, B&Bs, apartments, and agri-camping), assigned on a first-come, first-served basis for packages including overnight stays.
Book ferries and packages well in advance, as spots are limited. Bring comfortable shoes for the trails and a warm layer for the evening, when the sea breeze picks up.
