About Colognola Carnival and Feast of Saint Blaise

In early February, Colognola ai Colli celebrates its patron saint, Saint Blaise, and brings the Colognola Carnival to life. Between the ancient Saint Blaise fair, the parade of floats and masks in Piazza San Biagio, and the tasting of the Rufioli di San Biagio De.Co., the hamlet of Monte revives a tradition passed down through generations, organized by the Municipality with the Pro Loco in the heart of the Soave wine region.

The Patron Saint Saint Blaise and Carnival

The Colognola Carnival is intertwined with the Ancient Feast of Saint Blaise, patron saint of Colognola ai Colli, a municipality in the province of Verona in the hilly Soave area. The feast falls in early February, around February 3rd, Saint Blaise's day, and takes place mainly in the hamlet of Monte, in Piazza San Biagio.

The Ancient Fair and the Rufioli De.Co.

One day is dedicated to the ancient Saint Blaise fair, a moment of devotion and community. The protagonist of the feast is a traditional dessert: the Rufioli di San Biagio De.Co., sweet ravioli among the most beloved products of the town, passed down through generations and prepared specifically for the patron saint's celebrations.

The Carnival Parade

As tradition dictates, the religious devotion is accompanied by the most joyful part: the Colognola Carnival, with the parade of allegorical floats and masks, entertainment for children, and the celebration in Piazza San Biagio, where gnocchi and Rufioli are not to be missed. The event is organized by the Municipality of Colognola ai Colli together with the Pro Loco.

A Tradition of the Soave Territory

The feast represents an identity-defining event for the Colognola community, capable of uniting the religious dimension of the patron saint with the convivial and folkloric aspect of the carnival, in a corner of the Veronese region famous for its Soave DOC production.
