Two days of sport, cycle tourism, and Urban Downhill in the heart of Colle di Val d'Elsa
The Colle Bike Festival and Tuscany Urban Cup is a major cycling celebration that brings Colle di Val d'Elsa to life in the heart of the Siena province, Tuscany. For one full weekend, this Valdelsa townโfamous for its crystal production and the charming historic center of Colle Altaโtransforms into a grand open-air stage dedicated to all things cycling, where competitive racing, cycle tourism, and social fun converge.
The event was born from the Colle Sportiva project with the goal of showcasing the region through sport and active tourism. It is much more than just a race: the festival is designed as a family-friendly event, attracting enthusiasts and curious visitors from across Italy and Europe. The city's squares and streets host an Expo Bike area with exhibitors, opportunities to test new bikes through bike tests, food stalls, and live music.
The program alternates between competitive moments and activities open to all. There is space for youth cycling games, urban trekking to discover the most beautiful corners of Colle, cultural and sports-focused bike rides, as well as world-class bike trial shows and spinning demonstrations. Even four-legged friends have their own space with organized walks through the area.
The competitive heart of the event is the Urban Downhill, a downhill race reserved for members of the Italian Cycling Federation (FCI). Athletes tackle a technical and spectacular course that weaves through staircases, jumps, and ramps along the elevation drop connecting Colle Alta to Colle Bassa, finishing in the central Piazza Arnolfo di Cambio. It is a course that tests the riders' skills and provides thrills for the crowds gathered along the route.
Combining sport, culture, and gastronomy, the Colle Bike Festival is the ideal opportunity to discover Colle di Val d'Elsa and the Sienese Valdelsa in a unique and lively way. Whether you are a mountain bike enthusiast, a cycle tourist, or simply looking for a different kind of weekend in Tuscany, the event offers a rich program capable of satisfying both adults and children.
The inaugural edition of the Colle Bike Festival and Tuscany Urban Cup brought Colle di Val d'Elsa to life over the weekend of April 25-26, 2026, preceded on Friday, April 24, by the press conference presenting the Bike Hospitality project. On Saturday, April 25, the city hosted youth cycling games, urban trekking, cultural and sports rides, bike tests, food, and music in the Expo Bike area, while Sunday, April 26, featured the Urban Downhill, a downhill race reserved for FCI-licensed riders with a finish in Piazza Arnolfo di Cambio.
The Urban Downhill track wound through staircases, jumps, and ramps from the Cathedral of Colle Alta to the finish line in Piazza Arnolfo, with about 130 athletes from Italy and Europe at the start.
Colle di Val d'Elsa is located along the SS429 road between Siena and Poggibonsi, easily accessible by car from the Florence-Siena highway (exit Colle Val d'Elsa Nord or Sud). By train, the reference station is Poggibonsi-San Gimignano, which is connected to the center of Colle by bus. The nearest airports are Florence and Pisa.
Festival activities and the Expo Bike area are free for the public. Participation in the Urban Downhill race is reserved for FCI-licensed riders, with license verification and registration taking place at the paddock. For details on registration and the updated program, we recommend following the channels of Colle Sportiva and the Siena Provincial Committee of the Italian Cycling Federation.
