The village of Cocconato transforms into a wine route in the Asti Monferrato
Cocco Wine is the food and wine festival that, every year in early September, transforms the historic center of Cocconato (Asti province, Piedmont) into a grand open-air wine route. Organized by the Go Wine association in collaboration with the Municipality of Cocconato and the Consorzio Cocconato Riviera del Monferrato, the event has become one of the most awaited dates on the Asti wine calendar over the years.
During the festival weekend, Piazza Cavour, Via Roma, and the village alleys fill with tasting stands: on one side, the eight wineries of the local Consortium (including historic names like Bava and Giulio Cocchi Spumanti), and on the other, dozens of guest producers from all over Piedmont and, in some editions, other Italian regions. With a single tasting pass, visitors can wander freely between stands, glass in hand, discovering the diverse expressions of the territory.
The undisputed star remains Barbera d'Asti, the most iconic wine of these hills, accompanied by Nebbiolo from the heights of Cocconato and Albugnano, and sparkling wines from Alta Langa. Each year, the festival also features thematic wine islands dedicated to guest denominations or regions, offering a chance to look beyond the borders of the Monferrato.
With its tastings, local cuisine, and the atmosphere of a Monferrato village, Cocco Wine is much more than a simple wine fair: it is an invitation to experience the Asti Monferrato just before the harvest, when the hills of Cocconato prepare for the new vintage.
The 2026 edition of Cocco Wine celebrates the festival's twenty-fifth anniversary and takes place from Friday, September 4th to Sunday, September 6th, 2026, in the historic center of Cocconato (Asti). The established structure is confirmed: the Il Salotto preview evening on Friday, two days of tasting stands on Saturday and Sunday featuring Consortium wineries and guest producers, and the Centoporte historic train from Turin, Moncalieri, and Asti on the final day.
The dates have been officially announced by Go Wine; the detailed program, the complete list of participating wineries, thematic islands, and tasting pass prices will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event. This page will be updated as soon as the official 2026 program is published.
