The national UISP choreographic competition bringing hundreds of dancers to the stage at the Teatro Superga in Nichelino
Città in Danza Piedmont is the regional stage of the national choreographic circuit organized by UISP (Italian Union of Sport for All). Every year, it transforms the Teatro Superga in Nichelino, in the Province of Turin, into a stage open to dance schools, associations, and individual performers from across the Piedmont region. For an entire day, the theater welcomes dozens of associations and hundreds of dancers, from children to adults, in an uninterrupted succession of performances spanning all genres of dance.
The event features choreographies in various dance styles: classical and neoclassical, contemporary, modern, hip-hop and street dance, jazz, and ethnic/folk. Performances are divided into solos, duets, and groups, categorized by age from children to adults. A jury of industry professionals awards scores for the final ranking, with prizes, technical and school scholarships, and access to the national circuit finals, which take place in numerous locations across Italy.
More than just a competition, Città in Danza is an experience of growth and sharing that embodies the values of UISP: accessibility, inclusion, participation, and the empowerment of the individual. Here, dance becomes a common language that connects different generations and styles, offering young talent in Piedmont a concrete opportunity to perform on a real stage.
The event often carries a strong charitable and social commitment, linking art with solidarity. The festival is held under the patronage of the Piedmont Region and is confirmed as one of the most anticipated events for the amateur and sports dance community in the Turin area. The Teatro Superga, a benchmark for culture in Nichelino, provides the ideal setting for this long marathon of choreography.
