The village carnival of Cis, in the Val di Non
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Cis Grand Carnival is the carnival celebration that brings Cis to life every winter—a small municipality of just under three hundred inhabitants nestled on a sunny terrace between the Barnés and Noce streams, in the heart of the Val di Non (Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige). It is organized by the Pro Loco Cis, the association that keeps the village community spirit alive and has made the carnival one of its most anticipated events.
It is a genuine carnival, the kind that feels like a true village gathering: no massive spectacles, but the authentic celebration found among frescoed houses, under the bell tower of the Church of San Giorgio Martire, with children in costume running through the streets and adults gathering in the square. The formula follows the beloved Val di Non carnival tradition: mask parades, confetti and streamers, music and entertainment, and of course, the inevitable fritters and carnival sweets prepared by volunteers.
The Cis Carnival is part of the rich carnival calendar of the Val di Non, where almost every town—from Romeno to Cles, from Coredo to Sfruz—celebrates its own festival between late January and February. In Cis, the event is a meeting point for the entire district and neighboring towns, designed especially for families and children. The atmosphere is that of an intimate, convivial mountain village, where the festival is also an opportunity to be together and rediscover the joy of simple things.
Those looking for the authentic carnival of Trentino villages, far from large tourist parades, will find exactly that in Cis: a community that gets involved, with homemade masks, contagious joy, and good seasonal food. It is also a perfect opportunity to discover one of the quietest villages in the Val di Non, amidst Melinda apple orchards, scenic trails, and the peace of the Non Valley mountains.
The Pro Loco Cis has not yet published the dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Cis Grand Carnival. The event, which takes place every year during the carnival period, is expected to be held in February 2026, in line with the Val di Non festival calendar.
To find out the date, times, and program as soon as they are released, we recommend following the "Pro Loco Cis" Facebook page. We will update this page with official details as soon as they become available.
