The crown jewel of the Agosto Falvaterrano and one of the oldest food festivals in the Ciociaria region
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of Ciociaria, the small village of Falvaterra (Frosinone province, Lazio) hosts one of the region's most beloved and long-standing festivals every summer: the Ciociaria Fettuccine Festival. With over forty years of history, it is the beating heart of the Agosto Falvaterrano, a calendar of festivities that brings the village to life throughout the weekends of the month.
The undisputed stars are the hand-rolled fettuccine, prepared with a rolling pin according to the traditional recipe passed down by the village women. They are served with robust, flavorful Ciociarian sauces and paired with local products: olive oil, wine, and cheeses like ricotta and caciotta. Each dish tells the story of the simple yet flavorful, authentic peasant cuisine of the Sacco Valley.
The festival is part of a broader program of gastronomic events held every Saturday and Sunday in August. Alongside the fettuccine, the Falvaterra Pro Loco traditionally hosts other themed evenings:
Falvaterra sits at an altitude of about 290 meters on a spur of the Ausoni Mountains overlooking the Sacco Valley. The town center preserves a 13th-century castle, a picturesque medieval square, and the Sanctuary of San Sosio Martire, the village's patron saint. Nearby, you will find the Natural Monument of the Caves of Falvaterra and Rio Obaco, a karst cave system extending over five kilometers: a visit to the festival is the perfect opportunity to discover this hidden corner of Ciociaria.
Entirely organized by the volunteers of the Pro Loco of Falvaterra, the festival is much more than a food event: it is a gathering place for the entire community and the many visitors who climb up to the village. Between the stalls set up in the historic center, live music, dancing, and long outdoor tables, the event keeps the authentic tradition of southern Lazio village festivals alive.
The Ciociaria Fettuccine Festival is highly anticipated for summer 2026 as a flagship event of the Agosto Falvaterrano, the calendar of festivities that brings Falvaterra (Frosinone province) to life during the weekends of August. At the moment, the Pro Loco has not yet announced the official dates and program for the 2026 edition.
As per tradition, the evening will revolve around handmade fettuccine, served with traditional Ciociarian sauces and accompanied by local products, with live music and a convivial atmosphere in the village streets. This page will be updated as soon as dates and details are released.
Falvaterra can be reached by car via the A1 motorway (Ceprano exit), just a few kilometers from the toll booth. The reference railway station is Ceprano-Falvaterra, on the Rome-Cassino-Naples line.
The festival traditionally takes place on the weekends of August as part of the Agosto Falvaterrano calendar. Exact dates are announced each year by the Pro Loco of Falvaterra.
Food stalls are set up in the village's historic center: we recommend arriving early to find a seat and enjoy a stroll through the medieval streets.
