A festival dedicated to the moving image

Cinematica - Immagine in Movimento is an international festival held in Ancona, in the heart of the Marche Region, which specifically deals with the relationship between image and movement in visual and performing arts. Founded in 2014 and directed by choreographer and performer Simona Lisi, the event is organized by the Ventottozerosei Association and has repeatedly obtained the EFFE Label, the recognition awarded by the European Festival Association to quality festivals on the continent.

Four days of dance, cinema, and new technologies

For four days, the festival offers a kaleidoscope of languages: live performances, installations, research cinema screenings, focus sessions and round tables, a kids&teen section dedicated to video games and making, and an important section reserved for virtual reality and video dance. The common thread remains the vital relationship between the world of image and that of the body, a dialogue that intertwines choreographic art and vision, corporeality and technology.

The festival venues in Ancona

Cinematica takes place in the symbolic places of the Marche capital. The core is the Mole Vanvitelliana, the ancient 18th-century lazaretto overlooking the port, alongside the Teatro delle Muse and other spaces in the city. The choice of historical and evocative venues contributes to making the festival an immersive experience, capable of uniting Marche's architectural heritage and contemporary artistic research.

Video dance and the international call

Among Cinematica's regular events is the International Video Dance Call, active since 2015, which gathers projects from all over the world capable of pushing the boundaries of the moving image through dance, including works generated with artificial intelligence. The selected works are screened during the festival and compete for awards assigned by a quality jury, the audience, and the organization.

A significant event for Marche's culture

Promoted with the support of the Municipality of Ancona and local cultural entities, Cinematica is one of the flagship events in the Marche's artistic scene and is part of the path leading Ancona towards the role of cultural capital. It is designed for both dance and performing arts enthusiasts and for curious audiences interested in the encounter between body, image, and technological innovation.
