In Cilavegna, in the province of Pavia, asparagus is much more than a vegetable: it is an identity symbol of this corner of Lomellina. The Asparagus Festival, one of the longest-running in the area, dedicates six days of events, flavours, and traditions to it, transforming Parco Baden Powell into the vibrant heart of the celebration.
Six days of events
The festival's programme is rich and varied, alternating gastronomic, sporting, and folkloric moments:
- The official inauguration with the "Asparago d'Oro" Award
- The foot race and the risotto competition
- Guided tours of the asparagus fields and the photographic exhibition
- Street food and the Asparagus Parade with the election of Miss and Mister Asparagus
- The market, the historical pageant, and neighbourhood games
A community celebration
The festival is organised by the Associazione Quattro Rioni of Cilavegna, with the support of the Lombardy Region, and involves the entire community in its districts. More than just a food fair, it is a collective celebration of the territory and its traditions, capable of attracting visitors from all over Lomellina and the province of Pavia.
Asparagus Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition, the 60th, of the Cilavegna Asparagus Festival will be held from May 5 to 10 at Parco Baden Powell, in the heart of Lomellina. Six days of events, flavours, and traditions with a programme that combines gastronomy, sport, culture, and folklore, from the inauguration with the "Asparago d'Oro" Award to the concluding historical pageant.
