A month of Christmas magic in the heart of the Monti della Tolfa
In Allumiere, a small town perched on the Monti della Tolfa in the province of Rome (Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Lazio), the holiday season is more than just a brief break: it is a true season in its own right. With "Natale nel Borgo," the historic center transforms for over a month, from December 8th until Epiphany, into an immersive trail of lights, music, crafts, and popular traditions. It is the signature winter event for Allumiere, drawing families, curious visitors, and locals from the surrounding Tolfa district.
The heart of the event is the stroll along Via Roma and the town's squares, where markets featuring local crafts and regional products unfold. The lighting of the tree and the street decorations officially kick off the festivities, while shop windows and corners of the village are dressed in a festive atmosphere. There is no shortage of cultural and spiritual moments: churches host themed exhibitions, such as the "Natale su Tela" (Christmas on Canvas) art display at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta del Crocifisso, and a nativity scene exhibition curated by the Youth Parish Group takes shape along Via Roma.
"Natale nel Borgo" is designed especially for children. Santa's House is located in the Palazzo della Reverenda Camera Apostolica, while the "Ice Kingdom" comes to life in Piazza del Municipio. The days are filled with entertainment, group games, workshops, and shows, culminating in the arrival of the Befana on January 6th, which closes the calendar with gifts and surprises for the little ones.
The strength of the event lies in the network that makes it possible: the Municipal Administration promotes it together with the Pro Loco, the Agrarian University, and numerous local associations, with the support of the Lazio Region. The result is a rich and well-attended calendar that weaves together tradition, solidarity, and entertainment. Initiatives like "Christmas of Peace," which involves schools and families, give the festival a civic and community value beyond the scenic beauty of the lights and markets.
From December 7, 2025, to January 6, 2026, the historic center of Allumiere transformed into an immersive trail of lights and events. This edition combined the popular appeal of markets and nativity scenes with spectacular moments, including the lighting of the tree and street decorations, parades through the village streets, and live musical performances. A program designed to engage families, children, culture enthusiasts, visitors, and residents of the Monti della Tolfa.
The full calendar was released by the Municipality of Allumiere and the Pro Loco in the weeks leading up to the holidays.
