About Santa's Village

Every December, the historic center of Rocca Priora, the highest town in the Castelli Romani, comes alive for Santa's Village. Visitors follow an elf-led trail through the Enchanted Castle, Santa's House, the library, and the Benedetto Robazza Museum. The experience includes craft markets, a nativity scene exhibition, creative workshops for children, and free tastings of local Lazio products. This free-entry event, organized by the Pro Loco, runs until the Befana arrives on January 6th.

The highest Christmas in the Castelli Romani

At 768 meters above sea level, Rocca Priora is the highest town in the Castelli Romani. This altitude gives the town a truly wintry atmosphere in December, often dusted with snow. It is here, in the Metropolitan City of Rome and the heart of Lazio, that Santa's Village takes shape each year, transforming the historic center into an immersive Christmas wonderland and serving as the highlight of the Christmas in Rocca Priora calendar.

An elf-led journey

The core of the event is an immersive, theatrical tour lasting about fifty minutes. Guests are welcomed in a heated marquee where gnomes, a princess, and her unicorn entertain children while they wait. Then, accompanied by elves, visitors embark on a journey through the Enchanted Castle, Santa's House, the municipal library, and the Benedetto Robazza Museum, dedicated to the sculptor who left a significant part of his work in Rocca Priora. The entire route is covered and heated, ensuring accessibility and comfort for families with young children.

Markets, nativity scenes, and crafts

The traditional festivities unfold around the main route. Piazza Umberto I hosts Christmas markets with craft stalls and local products, while the parish church displays a nativity scene exhibition, a staple of local Lazio devotion. Parco Dandini and Parco Madonna della Neve also join the circuit with wooden huts, food and wine stands, and entertainment.

Lazio flavors and free tastings

Gastronomy is a key feature. The Discovering the Flavors of Lazio trail offers free tastings of regional products, complemented by a Sensory Tasting Walk and special offers at local restaurants. The organizers aim to connect the festival to the local supply chain and the excellence of the Castelli Romani, from wines and cheeses to cured meats and holiday sweets.

Music, workshops, and charity

The calendar is rounded out by creative workshops for children—such as Create Your Own Magic Bauble at the Robazza Museum—performances by the Corbium Musical Band, the lighting of the Christmas tree for the Immaculate Conception, and charity initiatives promoted by local associations. Many activities are part of the Santa's Village for Everyone project, which focuses on inclusivity.

Until the Befana

The festivities don't end at Christmas: on January 6th, the traditional descent of the Befana marks the grand finale, featuring entertainment, games, and sweets for children. In Rocca Priora, as in much of Lazio, this ritual holds deep community value.

Organizers

The event is organized by the Nuova Pro Loco of Rocca Priora with the support of the Municipality of Rocca Priora and the collaboration of local associations. Admission to all activities is free.
