A month of Christmas events across the neighborhoods of North Rome
Christmas in Municipio XV is the holiday festival promoted and funded by the administration of Municipio XV of Rome, the vast territory stretching along the Via Cassia and Via Flaminia in the heart of North Rome. Now in its fourth edition for 2025/2026, the event is not a single gathering in one square, but a truly widespread calendar: for an entire month, from December 6th to January 6th, shows, parades, and appointments rotate through different neighborhoods, bringing the festive lights and atmosphere right to the residents' doorsteps.
The official kickoff is marked by the Christmas tree lighting at Ponte Milvio, a landmark of the area, where the first Christmas parade and a light show welcome the festivities. From there, the program unfolds across Labaro, La Giustiniana, Vigna Clara, the villages of Cesano and Isola Farnese, Olgiata, Cassia-Grottarossa, Fleming, San Godenzo, and Valle Muricana: each stop features its own show, parade, or workshop, allowing the entire district to participate without needing to travel to the city center.
The heart of the festival lies in the shows for children and families: roving parades with the "Christmas World" cast and meetings with Santa Claus in the weeks leading up to December 25th, followed by encounters with the Befana as Epiphany approaches. Local squares, plazas, and fountains are transformed for a few hours into small festive villages, complete with music, characters, and entertainment specifically for the little ones.
Alongside the performances, Municipio XV offers a rich calendar of free guided tours to discover the museums and historical sites of Rome: from the Capitoline Museums to the Bioparco, from Castel Sant'Angelo to Villa Torlonia. It is a perfect opportunity to combine the Christmas spirit with a rediscovery of the Capital's cultural heritage, with mandatory booking and limited spots for each session.
Entirely free of charge, the event reflects the commitment of Municipio XV to celebrate its diverse neighborhood identities, in a territory that blends urban areas with almost rural villages like Cesano and Isola Farnese. As part of the broader holiday events organized by Rome Capital and the Lazio Region, Christmas in Municipio XV has become a staple for families and residentsโa way to experience the holidays in a widespread, open-air, and shared manner.
The 2025/2026 edition, the fourth consecutive one, opened on December 6, 2025, at 6:30 PM with the tree lighting and the first Christmas parade in the square of Ponte Milvio. The calendar continued until January 6, 2026, rotating through the neighborhoods of Municipio XV with family shows, roving parades by the "Christmas World" cast, and 26 free guided tours (from December 10 to 31) to museums and historical sites such as the Capitoline Museums, the Bioparco, Castel Sant'Angelo, and Villa Torlonia.
Events take place in squares, plazas, and public spaces throughout the neighborhoods of Municipio XV in Rome (Ponte Milvio, Labaro, La Giustiniana, Vigna Clara, Cesano, Isola Farnese, Olgiata, Cassia-Grottarossa, Fleming, San Godenzo, Valle Muricana). The tree lighting is held in the square at Ponte Milvio.
Ponte Milvio is served by Metro Line A (Flaminio stop + tram/bus) and numerous ATAC bus lines along Via Flaminia and Via Cassia. Other locations are accessible via local buses; for the more remote villages (Cesano, Isola Farnese), a car is recommended.
All shows and guided tours are free. Guided tours require mandatory booking via email at [email protected], with limited spots available per session.
