Christmas markets on the Anzio seafront
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
As December arrives, the town of Anzio, located on the Tyrrhenian coast in the province of Rome, dons its festive attire. "Christmas by the Sea" is a series of craft markets that accompanies residents and visitors throughout the weeks of Advent, forming part of the wider municipal program "Christmas, a Sea of Emotions." The event transforms the town center and the seafront into a large, open-air Christmas village.
The heart of the event is Via Porto Neroniano, where stalls stretch from Via Padre Lombardi to Piazza Pia. Among the wooden huts, you will find artisanal creations, ornaments, gift ideas, and handmade products, along a route that invites you to stroll and search for the perfect gift. The coastal climate and festive lighting create a unique atmosphere, distinct from the classic mountain Christmas markets.
In the evocative park of Villa Adele, a Christmas village comes to life, designed especially for families and children, featuring entertainment, games, and themed areas. The village remains open until the evening, offering a meeting point for both adults and children in the green heart of the city.
Anzio's Christmas program alternates festive moments with cultural and charitable initiatives: the lighting of the tree and festive decorations in Piazza Pia, performances by the Città di Anzio Town Band and the local polyphonic choir, street performances, nativity scenes, and events dedicated to local parishes and associations. It is a tapestry of events that involves the entire community, from Lido dei Pini to the town center.
Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and rich in history—from the Neronian port to the events of the 1944 landing—Anzio offers an intimate and convivial atmosphere in December. "Christmas by the Sea" is the perfect opportunity to discover this Lazio seaside town during the cold season, combining Christmas shopping, excellent seafood, and the warmth of the traditions of Lazio.
The 2026 edition of "Christmas by the Sea" in Anzio does not yet have an official calendar. Following the tradition of recent years, the Christmas markets are expected to return on the weekends of December along Via Porto Neroniano, with the Christmas village set up in the park of Villa Adele. For updated dates and programs, we recommend checking the official channels of the Municipality of Anzio and the event's Facebook page.
Anzio can be reached by train via the FL8 regional line from Rome Termini (about an hour) to Anzio station, a short distance from the center and the port. By car, follow the Via Pontina (SS148) or the Via Nettunense. During the holidays, the Municipality provides free shuttle buses connecting the center with the surrounding districts.
Admission to the markets and the Villa Adele village is free. Openings are concentrated on the weekends of December, and the village remains open until the evening. We recommend checking the updated schedule on the official channels of the Municipality of Anzio and the event's Facebook page.
