About Christmas by the Sea

Every December, the Anzio seafront lights up with "Christmas by the Sea," a series of Christmas markets that bring Via Porto Neroniano and the Villa Adele park to life. Featuring stalls filled with handicrafts, gifts, and handmade goods, this seaside town in the province of Rome transforms into an open-air Christmas village, complete with festive lights, music from the local town band, and activities for families and children. It is an event that perfectly blends the Christmas spirit with the charm of the Lazio coast.

"Christmas by the Sea": The Christmas Markets of Anzio

As December arrives, the town of Anzio, located on the Tyrrhenian coast in the province of Rome, dons its festive attire. "Christmas by the Sea" is a series of craft markets that accompanies residents and visitors throughout the weeks of Advent, forming part of the wider municipal program "Christmas, a Sea of Emotions." The event transforms the town center and the seafront into a large, open-air Christmas village.

The Market Route

The heart of the event is Via Porto Neroniano, where stalls stretch from Via Padre Lombardi to Piazza Pia. Among the wooden huts, you will find artisanal creations, ornaments, gift ideas, and handmade products, along a route that invites you to stroll and search for the perfect gift. The coastal climate and festive lighting create a unique atmosphere, distinct from the classic mountain Christmas markets.

The Villa Adele Village

In the evocative park of Villa Adele, a Christmas village comes to life, designed especially for families and children, featuring entertainment, games, and themed areas. The village remains open until the evening, offering a meeting point for both adults and children in the green heart of the city.

Music, Tradition, and Solidarity

Anzio's Christmas program alternates festive moments with cultural and charitable initiatives: the lighting of the tree and festive decorations in Piazza Pia, performances by the Città di Anzio Town Band and the local polyphonic choir, street performances, nativity scenes, and events dedicated to local parishes and associations. It is a tapestry of events that involves the entire community, from Lido dei Pini to the town center.

Anzio at Christmas

Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and rich in history—from the Neronian port to the events of the 1944 landing—Anzio offers an intimate and convivial atmosphere in December. "Christmas by the Sea" is the perfect opportunity to discover this Lazio seaside town during the cold season, combining Christmas shopping, excellent seafood, and the warmth of the traditions of Lazio.

Christmas by the Sea — edition 2026

For December 2026, Anzio is once again preparing to renew its "Christmas by the Sea" appointment, the craft markets that animate Via Porto Neroniano and the Villa Adele village every year. Official dates and the detailed program have not yet been published by the Municipality: the event, usually concentrated on the weekends of Advent, will return with stalls, lights, music, and activities for families.

The 2026 edition of "Christmas by the Sea" in Anzio does not yet have an official calendar. Following the tradition of recent years, the Christmas markets are expected to return on the weekends of December along Via Porto Neroniano, with the Christmas village set up in the park of Villa Adele. For updated dates and programs, we recommend checking the official channels of the Municipality of Anzio and the event's Facebook page.
