A walk among the cherry blossoms in Rivarone

The Cherry Blossom Walk is the spring highlight in Rivarone, a small town in the Province of Alessandria, in the heart of Piedmont. When the hills surrounding the village turn white and pink with cherry blossoms, the local SOMS - Mutual Aid Society invites everyone to an outdoor stroll to admire nature's awakening.

A walk for everyone, between nature and conviviality

This is a non-competitive walk, designed for families, groups of friends, and outdoor enthusiasts. The route winds through the blooming hills of Rivarone, where the cherry trees hint at the future fruit that will turn the village red in late spring. It is not a race, but an opportunity to be together, breathe in the seasonal scents, and, on lucky days, enjoy the early spring sun.

The meeting point is at the river landing of Rivarone, overlooking the Tanaro River: from here, the itinerary begins, crossing orchards and scenic viewpoints of the local hills. At the end of the walk, an award ceremony and the opening of the food stall turn the morning into a village festival, featuring simple and genuine specialties.

A tradition in the making

In recent years, the Cherry Blossom Walk has grown into a highly anticipated event: the 2025 edition brought together over one hundred participants along the hills of Rivarone. The initiative is part of the calendar of events that the SOMS promotes to enliven the life of the small Piedmontese village and showcase its hilly landscape, nestled between the Tanaro River and the orchards that characterize this part of the Province of Alessandria.
